Licensed Clinical Therapists II.
The Licensed Clinical Therapist provides specialized mental health services to clients under the Mental Health Diversion Program, pursuant PC 1001.36 who are represented by the Public Defender's Office. This position supports both clients and Deputy Public Defenders through conducting clinical evaluations, diagnosing, and testifying. The position also requires facilitating case management services, assessments, and treatment planning, requiring clinical expertise to facilitate a fluid transition into mental health treatment.
Additionally, the Clinical Therapist will provide clinical supervision hours for the Social Service Practitioner Unit and will receive direct supervision from the Mental Health Program Manager.
The Therapist works as part of a
multidisciplinary team that may include attorneys, investigators, social service practitioners, and county agencies. The goal is to ensure clients receive holistic, trauma-informed support that improves legal outcomes, enhances client well-being, and promotes fairness within the justice system.

Summary of BenefitsMemorandum of Understanding (MOU)CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTPre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check and a job-related physical exam prior to employment.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required depending on assignment. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation (mileage reimbursement at current IRS rate is available). At the time of hire, a valid California driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.

Minimum RequirementsLicense: Must be licensed in the State of California as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). A copy of the license is required upon appointment. Licensure must be active, unrestricted, and in good standing.
--AND--Experience: One (1) year, within the last five (5) years, of direct service post-license experience as a licensed therapist in a mental health program (mental health and or substance use disorder treatment program) forensic justice involved program.
Desired QualificationsApplicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Tagalog and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills is required to receive additional compensation.
The following experience is highly desirable:- Possesses knowledge of clinical supervisor requirements
- Has completed a minimum of fifteen (15) contact hours in supervision training
- Two (2) or more years of experience providing clinical supervision to Registered Associate MFTs, Registered Associate PCCs, or Registered Associate CSWs or pre-degree clinical interns within the last five (5) years
- One (1) or more years of experience providing clinical or administrative supervision over clinical interns and/or trainees
- Experience in a behavioral health or social service setting in a leadership role either managing a special assignment or providing occasional supervisory coverage
- Interagency collaboration experience
- Education and/or training experience
