Job description

Summary: The Operations Manager is responsible for leading the manufacturing team to safely and efficiently produce products meeting customer specifications while facilitating the training and development of team members and adhering to CJB "RITES". This role oversees the management of the Manufacturing, Packaging, Maintenance, and Logistics teams while coordinating with the Plant Manager, Production Scheduling,Accounting, Human Resources and Quality Control to coordinate an efficient, safe manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other Duties may be assigned.
  1. Safety / Environmental
    1. Actively manages Safety Health and Environmental issues daily.
    2. Responsible for investigating EH&S Incidents and Near Misses as well as determining root cause and implementing corrective actions.
    3. Responsible for setting and maintaining high standards for housekeeping.
    4. Brings all safety / environmental concerns to the attention of the Plant Manager and/or the appropriate department manager immediately.
    5. Responsible for safely managing both hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.
    6. Works with other managers, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to create and maintain a safe work environment.
  2. Manufacturing
    1. Responsible for cost effectively meeting manufacturing and packaging output targets communicated in the Production Schedule.
    2. Accountable for the efficient management of CJB and temporary worker manpower,
    3. Accountable for accuracy of paperwork used to ensure inventory accuracy.
  3. Maintenance
    1. Accountable for reliability of equipment.
    2. Responsible for setting priorities of maintenance and project work
    3. Responsible for analyzing workload to determine if additional resources are required to meet project and production requirements.
    4. Responsible for managing daily work assignments for maintenance employees
  4. Quality
    1. Responsible for ensuring good manufacturing practices are adhered to during the production of in specification material.
    2. Accountable for investigations of non-conformances as well as determining root cause and implementing corrective actions.
    3. Responsible for ensuring finished packages meet customer requirements and have an appearance that projects a positive image of CJB Industries.
  5. Other Duties / Responsibilities
    1. Accountable for development and performance evaluations of manufacturing, packaging, maintenance, and logistics associates.
    2. Responsible for implementing and sustaining Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement initiatives
    3. Communicating as needed with customers about production status, and quality.
    4. Assumes duties / responsibilities of Plant Manager in their absence.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Operations Manager is the primary supervisor for our Manufacturing Manager, Packaging Manager, and Maintenance Manager, and Logistics Manager. This role serves as the secondary supervisor to all employees within those departments.
