Job description

The Landfill Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day landfill activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations. This role leads site personnel, manages landfill processes, and works closely with operational and environmental leadership to support business objectives, maintain regulatory compliance, and optimize landfill performance. The manager is accountable for operational planning, equipment utilization, environmental stewardship, employee development, and continuous improvement initiatives that support long-term site success.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all landfill operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Lead and develop site personnel, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
Manage landfill planning, waste disposal activities, environmental systems, and site improvement projects.
Coordinate with maintenance and leadership teams to maximize equipment performance and achieve operational targets.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permit requirements, and company safety standards.
Will be under 1 Supervisor and will oversee 11 direct reports (heavy equipment operators, scale house operators, general laborers)


REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

2+ years of supervisory or management experience in landfill, waste, construction, or industrial operations.
Proven ability to lead teams, drive performance, and maintain a safe work environment.
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
Working knowledge of environmental regulations, operational compliance, and equipment management.
High school diploma or GED required


NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Landfill Operator Certification preferred.
