The Operations Manager will work closely with the managers of each department to ensure company policies, procedures, workflow processes, and organizational structure are clearly established, consistently followed, and continuously improved.

This position requires a strong, working knowledge of the fire protection industry and how a full-service fire protection company operates. The ideal candidate understands how the various departments work together, how work flows from one department to another, and how operational decisions impact customers, employees, compliance, productivity, and profitability.

The Operations Manager will also be responsible for helping each department achieve its monthly revenue goals, monitoring performance, identifying obstacles, and working with department managers to develop solutions that improve productivity and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure each department is operating efficiently and working toward its monthly revenue goals.

  • Monitor departmental performance and help identify and resolve issues that prevent departments from meeting revenue and operational targets.

  • Use extensive knowledge of the fire protection industry to improve processes and support sound operational decisions.

  • Understand the relationship between the company's various departments and how work moves through the organization from sales and estimating through scheduling, service, inspections, projects, billing, and customer follow-up.

  • Stay knowledgeable about industry practices, operational requirements, and the day-to-day challenges faced by fire protection companies.

  • Evaluate current workflows and identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, redundancies, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Utilize the company's various software platforms to create streamlined processes, improve communication, reduce duplicate work, and increase efficiency.

  • Develop creative solutions, automations, reports, and workflows that allow employees and managers to work more effectively.

  • Ensure processes and procedures are consistently implemented across departments.

  • Assist the General Manager with company-wide initiatives and strategic priorities.

  • Continuously evaluate how the company operates and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, customer service, and profitability.

Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge and experience within the fire protection industry.

  • Previous management or operations leadership experience.

  • Understanding of how the various departments within a full-service fire protection company work together.

  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and improve processes and procedures.

  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

  • Comfortable working with multiple software platforms and technology.

  • Ability to analyze departmental performance and drive accountability toward revenue goals.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a fire protection industry professional, problem solver, and process improvement leader who understands both the operational and business sides of the industry.

You are someone who understands how the fire protection industry works and can recognize when a process isn't working efficiently. You know how the different departments affect one another and can work with managers to develop practical solutions that improve the entire operation.

You are comfortable holding departments accountable for performance and revenue while also providing the structure, tools, and support they need to succeed.

Our goal is simple: operate more efficiently, grow revenue, improve accountability, and build processes that allow the company to scale successfully.
