McKesson is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to lead multiple operational teams within a high-volume distribution center. This leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, workforce performance, safety, quality, and continuous improvement across distribution and warehouse operations.
The Senior Operations Manager partners with site leadership and cross-functional teams to develop operational strategies, optimize productivity, and deliver outstanding customer service. This role leads through managers and supervisors and plays a critical role in building a high-performing, engaged workforce while ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective operations.
Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6 am - 4 pm - Flexibility Required
What You'll Do
Operational Leadership
  • Lead distribution center operations to achieve safety, quality, productivity, service, and cost objectives.
  • Establish operational priorities and performance expectations aligned to business goals.
  • Monitor and drive key performance indicators (KPIs) including service levels, productivity, quality, inventory accuracy, and safety performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to optimize workflow, throughput, and operational efficiency.

People Leadership & Talent Development
  • Lead and develop supervisors, managers, and frontline leadership teams.
  • Drive employee engagement, performance management, coaching, and succession planning efforts.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance culture.
  • Develop leadership capabilities and promote accountability across operational teams.

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify operational challenges, analyze root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Lead Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service performance.
  • Drive change management initiatives supporting operational transformation and growth.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are consistently executed across all functional areas.

Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Champion a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain operational controls, inventory integrity, and audit readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, FDA, and company quality standards.
  • Promote continuous improvement in workplace safety and quality performance.

Financial & Business Management
  • Manage labor planning, workforce utilization, budgets, and operating expenses.
  • Utilize analytics and operational reporting to make data-driven decisions.
  • Partner with senior leaders to align operational execution with organizational strategy.
Basic Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent experience and typically requires 9+ years of professional experience and 4+ years of management experience.
  • Experience leading operations within a distribution center, warehouse, manufacturing, logistics, or production environment.
  • Experience leading multiple teams through supervisors and/or managers.
  • Experience managing operational performance through KPIs and business metrics.
  • Experience managing budgets, labor planning, and operating expenses.
  • Demonstrated experience leading process improvement, operational excellence, or change management initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to leverage data to drive business decisions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or Operational Excellence certification.
  • Experience in healthcare distribution, pharmaceutical distribution, or regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, FDA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as JDE, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Experience leading large-scale operational transformation initiatives.
  • Advanced workforce planning and inventory management expertise.

Travel, Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Primary work location: Columbus, Ohio distribution center.
  • Travel less than 5%.
  • Requires frequent presence in an active warehouse/distribution environment.
  • Ability to navigate warehouse operations, including walking extended distances and standing for prolonged periods.
  • May occasionally lift or move materials consistent with operational leadership responsibilities.
