Description
The Operations Manager is responsible for providing support, analysis, and recommendations to assist all department management and ensure operational efficiency at store level.
Concentrates on a wide range of compliance regulation, technology launches, policy and procedures and operational administrative duties, to drive high performance, and serve as a business partner to the store, the field and corporate offices. The Operations Manager's Customers include all Store Employees, Corporate Business Partners, and Store Customers.
In adherence to all compliance regulations governing the purchasing and selling of cannabis and non-cannabis product, the Operations Manager will partner with the General Manager and Inventory & Compliance Manager in each location to oversee all facets of policy and procedures and operational administrative duties.
Core Responsibilities:
Sales & Profitability
o Drive and support store's profitability by guiding team members to utilize company reports to analyze trends and drive business.
o Assist the General Manager and store by providing various reports in all budget and expense related items to positively impact business decisions resulting in improved sales and profitability.
o Prioritizes and communicates department issues to General Manager.
o Ensures expense controls within the store are met with various initiatives and strategies.
o Support execution of designated in-store promotions and GWPs to support growth of business and customer engagement.
o Support and communicate utilization of a centralized calendar of designated brand demos, trainings, and in-store events with team to present a cohesive monthly and quarterly calendar.
Operations
o Support and lead the team to perform all store level operational procedures accurately and in a timely fashion, in accordance with all company policies and procedures.
o Partner with the General Manager to drive the store's profitability and guide team members to use company reports to react to trends and drive business.
o Assist and guide team members to use company product reports to react to trends and drive business.
o Assist store goals of protecting our assets by training in loss prevention awareness and overseeing adherence to loss prevention practices.
o Drive collection of store payroll information weekly and propose all changes to the General Manager.
o Responsible for conducting store audits on a regular basis and provide team with constructive feedback and obtainable goals.
o Responsible for consistently evaluating current operations management processes to ensure they are streamlined and efficient. Communicate feedback directly to the General Manager.
o Assist in leading the team in shipping and receiving process and complete shipment turnaround process
o Responsible for ensuring all operational tasks are completed and that all backstock areas are clean and organised.
o Ensure compliance with all BCC, State and City regulations.
o Ensure compliance with company emergency and safety procedures to protect employees and customers from accidents and incidents.
o Regular attendance and punctuality are essential
Leadership & Communication
o Support, contribute and participate in market calls and market meetings.
o Lead with effective and positive communications skills in both written and verbal form. Communicates Store and company information/directives to the store team.
o Partner with General Manager, Category Purchasing Manager, and Inventory & Compliance Manager by supporting the communication of designated category promos and events to store team to align with global and store strategies.
o Possess and exhibits excellent communication skills, superior knowledge of business functions, exceptional budgeting and finance skills, and strong leadership qualities.
People Development
o Assume the role of a mentor in-store with regards to talent development and employee mentorship.
o Lead and supports staff development, models the way in maintaining relationships with our customer and enhances the brands image through their team.
o Strategically recruit, train, and develop a productive store team and provide the market with strong candidates to support bench strength for all our retail locations.
o Partner with the General Manager to determine staffing requirements to support forecasted sales and payroll budget, share pertinent information with the store team and peer group when needed.
o Develop Leadership team to ensure successful planning to positively impact business, ensure bench strength and succession planning.
o Partner with the General Manager to lead, develop and facilitate communication of staff education materials on all current and future product.
Managing the Environment
o Leads the store team to maximize sales through analytical and creative management of merchandise from receipt to sale.
o Partner with the General manager to coach the store team to take initiative as leaders to oversee all levels of customer service by setting daily goals and expectation to create a positive Store environment.
o Exhibit excellent floor presence by training and coaching store team on customer standards, product placement and time management.
o Lead the team to uphold company customer service standards.
o Support the team by contributing to the maintenance of all product stock areas.
Delivery
o Partner with General Manager to understand and support the retail delivery business in accordance with sales and profitability goals.
o Collaborate with delivery and store leadership to enhance delivery systems and processes.
o Ensure a neat, clean, and organized store environment and stock area.
o Exhibit a familiarity with current delivery product and trend awareness.
o Exhibit extensive knowledge of logistics, safety protocols and regulations around cannabis transportation and delivery.
o Support the management of daily distribution activity and ensure systems are updated to reflect current data and information.
o Support the management of administrative needs of Dispatchers and Drivers, breaks, time off, payroll approvals, etc.
o Support time off management for drivers and ensure there are no disruptions with service.
o Collaborate with General Manager and Delivery Team to proactively mitigate any complications due to unexpected changes.
o Support process to complete reports and administrative work as needed and requested.
Merchandising and Display
o Collaborate with General Manager and store leadership to enhance the store environment and efficiently execute all inventory and merchandising projects.
o Collaborate with General Manager and store leadership to ensure fast and efficient flow of merchandise to the sales floor.
o Ensure a neat, clean, and organized store environment.
o Exhibit exceptional knowledge of current product and trend awareness.
o Support the store team by assisting in merchandising and display products as needed.
Interpersonal Skills and Ownership

Additional Responsibilities:
• Must be 21+ years old.
• Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 2- years' experience as a manager in a retail environment.
• Must pass a federal background check via Live scan in certain markets.
• B.A. preferred, but experience is paramount.
• Experience working in a highly regulated businesses is desirable.
• Uses sound judgment when making decisions.
• Assumes other duties assigned by supervisor.
• Exhibits strong leadership skills amongst peers and have confidence communicating at the store and market level.
• Uphold excellent consumer service skills and a service orientated culture.
• Achieve statistical results (sales, payroll, shrinkage).
• Previous retail experience preferred.
• Previous cannabis experience preferred.
Work Environment:
• This job operates in a professional cannabis store environment.
• This role routinely uses standard office and store equipment such as computers, phones, printers, POS.
• This position regular requires working evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands:
• While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear.
• While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or feet, reach with hands and arms, and required to lift a min of 50lbs.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
• This is an exempt, full-time salaried position which reports to the General Manager.
• This position can require work on early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
Travel:
• This position may require you to travel to corporate offices as well as other store locations for training, learning and development.
