About the Role:  

Manages and oversees a major segment of the organization's United States distribution operations. Leads the design and implementation of distribution operational policies, objectives, and initiatives. Evaluates current and proposed operational systems and procedures and implements changes as necessary.  Creates functional strategies and specific objectives and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the distribution center operations.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Recruit, develop, coach and retain a high-performing operations team.
  • Champions a unified culture centered on accountability, continuous improvement, teamwork, safety, quality & customer service ensuring that all teams operate as one cohesive unit.
  • Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of assigned staff. 
  • Balances competing priorities across functional areas to keep the overall operation running smoothly
  • Coaching and developing existing employees 
  • Monitoring performance and initiating action to strengthen results 
  • Translating corporate goals into functional and individual goals 
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.  
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Plans and organizes daily activities related to distribution operations including receiving, put-away, inventory control, replenishment, order fulfillment, packing, shipping, returns processing and oversight over tertiary processes including repair and in-house product manufacturing.  
  • Measures productivity by analyzing performance data, financial data and activity reports.  
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement throughout the operation by implementing best practices in:
      • Warehouse layout optimization
      • Slotting strategy
      • Inventory accuracy
      • Standard work
      • Labor planning
      • Productivity measurement
      • Visual management 
      • Lead methodologies
      • Process documentation
      • 5s workplace organization
  • Ensure outstanding service levels through: high order accuracy, on-time shipment performance, reduced order cycle time, improved fill rates, efficient handling of customer priorities, and strong communication with Customer Experience, Sales and Operations teams.
  • Partners with Supply Chain to improve inventory accuracy, cycle counting, replenishment processes, warehouse capacity utilization, inventory integrity and root cause analysis for discrepancies.
  • Assists with budget preparation for operations unit.  
  • Collaborates closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Customer Experience, Sales, Finance, and IT teams to improve end-to-end fulfillment performance.
  • Assists with and/or prepares and updates organizations operations manuals and policies.  
  • Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, industrial engineering, industrial management, or in a related discipline preferred. 
      • Preference given to incumbents with a Six Sigma Certification (Green/Black Belt) 
  • A minimum of 7+ years’ experience in a distribution center environment w/ an equivalent amount of leadership experience accomplishing business objectives, supervising staff, setting goals and tracking performance.
  • Experience leading mid to high-volume pick/pack operations
  • Experience managing B2B fulfillment operations
  • Working knowledge of LTL shipping

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be able to safely access and navigate the operations and production areas  
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
