Job description

The Opportunity:

Lead the strategic operations of a sustainable, world-class knowledge management and insight advisory service across the CSL Group. With a focus on leadership and innovation, this role is responsible for the overall administration, organization, governance, strategic planning, budget administration, and personnel management of the Global Knowledge Management (GKM) team.

This role will contribute to the CSL Data Standards, governance, and information management program development initiatives through various project, functional, and leadership opportunities.

The Role:

  • Lead the strategic operations of a sustainable, world-class information management, knowledge management and insight advisory service across the CSL Group.

  • Contribute to the CSL Data Standards and governance program through project participation, functional leadership roles and information management consultation.

  • Manage internal/external resources to contribute to operations or key projects that support our Digital Information and Knowledge Management Strategy with a focus on AI.

  • Responsible for the overall administration, organization, strategic planning, budget administration, personnel management, policy formulation and management of the Global Knowledge Management team for the CSL Group.

  • Effectively manage the cost center for resources, consulting, and data collection subscriptions, including to manage contract development and negotiations for assets within the scope of the role.

  • Partner with Global Sourcing when required as per the CSL policy.

  • Responsible for ensuring CSL has access to the information and research to meet the business needs. Responsible for maximizing our data collection value and usage.

  • Responsible to actively build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external knowledge services, including pharmaceutical library resources, industry consortiums, and peer networks.

  • Leverages these connections to access, share, and apply relevant scientific, regulatory, and industry information that supports organizational goals.

  • Exhibits strong collaboration skills, ensuring timely exchange of insights and best practices to enhance decision-making and innovation.

  • Lead, develop and implement innovative and emerging information technologies, systems, and workflows to optimize specialized information delivery models and services.

  • Drives vendor relationship management and procurement decisions for key knowledge resources, databases and APIs ensuring strategic alignment and cost efficiency.

  • Promote the cultural shift towards Digital Innovation, value creation and support the establishment of a data ownership mindset.

  • Lead knowledge team members based in different parts of the world and empower staff through consultative and transformational leadership by developing, coaching, and mentoring to deliver high performance.

  • Oversee the operations and performance of global systems and platforms including internal and external information sources.

  • This includes the management of CSL’s Copyright Agency Limited license.

  • Implement business improvement processes through the integration of technology, continuous improvement, usage metrics to drive business decisions, and quality management principles.

  • Develop performance metrics and programs to continuously monitor and improve services and resource utilization.

  • Negotiate, influence, collaborate and foster high-level relationships with stakeholders in a cross-matrix portfolio environment to align and integrate strategies, enhance performance, and increase operational efficiencies.

Skills and Experience:

  • MS, MLIS/MLS, Ph.D. in science-related fields such as Biochemistry, Chemistry, or experience gathered to fulfil an equivalent education in the Knowledge Mangement environment.

  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry.

  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in Knowledge Management, Research and Development or Medical Affairs.

  • Five (5) years of experience in People Leadership roles in global organizations highly preferred.

  • Proven Leadership Skills and Experience in the Biopharmaceutical Industry.

  • Preferred five (5) years of experience in Global Library Services or a comparable information Management responsibility

  • Data Standards and Governance Experience within Life Science.

  • Extensive understanding of Copyright regulations, focus on AI and API usage.

  • Vendor Management and contract negotiations skills, focus on research databases and their integration.

  • International experience, excellent English fluency for professional, scientific and technical communication.

  • Focuses on understanding customer needs and delivering solutions that create value and satisfaction.

  • Demonstrates accountability for achieving goals and delivering high-quality outcomes.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.

  • Strategic mindset - Aligns decisions and actions with broader organizational goals and market dynamics.
