What is a KNIME Developer?

A KNIME Developer is a professional skilled in using the KNIME Analytics Platform, an open-source software for data analytics, reporting, and integration. They design, build, and deploy data workflows to process, analyze, and visualize large datasets. KNIME Developers often work with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to automate data tasks, create predictive models, and support data-driven decision-making. They may also integrate KNIME with other tools and databases to streamline data pipelines.

What is the difference between Knime Developer vs Data Analyst?

A Data Analyst primarily interprets data through visualization and statistical methods to support business decisions. The roles often overlap but differ in technical focus and tools used.

What are some common challenges Knime Developers face when integrating KNIME workflows with external data sources and systems?

Knime Developers often encounter challenges such as ensuring compatibility between KNIME and various databases or APIs, managing data security during transfers, and handling differences in data schema or formats. Additionally, troubleshooting connectivity issues and optimizing workflow performance when dealing with large or complex datasets can be demanding. Collaborating with IT and data engineering teams is usually essential to ensure seamless data integration and to implement best practices for data governance and workflow automation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a KNIME Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a KNIME Developer, you need a strong background in data analytics, data engineering, and proficiency with ETL processes, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with the KNIME Analytics Platform, workflow automation, and knowledge of scripting languages like Python or R are essential, and certifications in KNIME can be advantageous. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills help you design efficient workflows and collaborate with stakeholders. These combined skills ensure effective data-driven solutions and seamless integration within diverse business environments.

Job description

Overview:

We are seeking a Principal Consultant with deep experience in platforms such as Microsoft Copilot Studio, Snowflake, and Glean to help clients realize tangible, business-ready value from AI agents. Our consulting services emphasize analytics and agentic activation, data visualization, data preparation, and data science. We specialize in Snowflake, Power BI, Tableau, Sigma, Alteryx, KNIME, and AWS.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and deploy AI agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio, aligned to real business processes and roles.
  • Translate manual or semi-structured business workflows into autonomous agents using low-code/no-code tools within the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Implement agentic behaviors, including planning, tool use, contextual memory, and reflection, to deliver intelligent task execution.
  • Integrate Copilot solutions with enterprise systems such as Power BI, SharePoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Support internal teams in enablement, governance, lifecycle management, and safe experimentation with Copilot agents.
  • Develop and iterate on prompt templates, AI guardrails, fallback strategies, and continuous feedback loops to improve agent performance.
  • Partner with IT, data, and security teams to ensure responsible, governed, and scalable agent deployments.
  • Embed alongside client analytics and BI teams in a staffaugmentation model, pairing on real Glean use cases while modeling best practices in semantic modeling, governance, and agent design.
  • Lead recurring enablement touchpoints (developer workshops, guided build sessions, office hours) to help client teams independently design, deploy, and iterate on Glean agents.
  • Cocreate reusable enablement assets (playbooks, labs, prompt libraries, "howto" guides) that client champions can use to scale training across business units.
Qualifications
  • 3-6 years of experience in enterprise automation, digital transformation, or AI-enabled consulting.
  • Direct experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio or similar low-code AI platforms (e.g., Glean, AgentForce, Amazon Q Business, OpenAI Agent Builder).
  • 3-5 years of BI experience, including advanced knowledge of ETL, SQL, and data visualization best practices.
  • Solid understanding of semantic layers, identity/access management, and Microsoft 365 security/compliance boundaries.
  • Experience facilitating automation/AI discovery and prioritization sessions (process mapping, value sizing, ROI modeling) with business stakeholders.
  • Passion for enabling the business to develop their own business process solutions with technology
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering, iterative design cycles, and user testing for AI workflows.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across business and technical audiences.
  • Exposure to Power Platform, Azure OpenAI, n8n, or broader AI orchestration tools is a plus.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience leading teams of consultants to ensure performance, utilization and project delivery
  • Experience operating in early-stage, ambiguous environments, where clients are experimenting with Copilot and agentic workflows across multiple functions.
  • Design and support change management and enablement programs (playbooks, training, office hours) to help business users adopt Copilot agents and AI workflows at scale.
  • Experience delivering tool enablement at scale (cohorts, trainthetrainer, or officehours programs) for modern BI or AI platforms such as Alteryx, Sigma, Power BI, or MS Copilot.
  • Prior consulting or staffaugmentation experience balancing "handson keyboard" delivery with coaching client developers and analysts to own and extend solutions over time.
