SUMMARY

The Kitting Lead is responsible for supervising employees in the pre-paint, hardware and fitting, and structure kitting areas. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in kitting methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

KEY OBJECTIVES

Other duties beyond this representative listing may be assigned to the essential job duties and responsibilities of this position based on Company needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for planning and assigning work in kitting areas to meet the demands of the production schedule and aftermarket order requirements.
  • Develop metrics for the kitting areas and drive efficiency improvements.
  • Develop standard work for the kitting operations and ensure they are adhered to.
  • Ensure all ERP required steps in the kitting standard work process are followed.
  • Act as the liaison between kitting operations and other departments. This is not limited to shortages, quality issues, and problem log submissions.
  • Assist as needed with any kitting operation to ensure timely delivery to post processes.
  • Communicate with Fabrication Manager on expedite needs.
  • Ensure hardware and structural kitting scheduled pull is ahead of production, allowing necessary time to identify part shortages and provide structure serials for closure.
  • Ensure (FIFO) first in first out consumption is taking place in all kitting operations.
  • Communicate to all departments any part shortage issues or delays in kitting operations.
  • Maintain daily communication with Production Manager and Warehouse
  • Manager on needs and prioritization.
  • Apply in-depth understanding of the flow of material, parts, and assemblies through the manufacturing and assembly process.
  • Ensure effective employee relations through employee coaching and development.
  • Ability to multi-task under pressure.
  • Must demonstrate positive corporate citizenship.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strive for harmony and teamwork with the department and with all other departments.
  • Maintain safe work environment and maintain professional appearance.
  • Hold regular departmental meetings to initiate an open line of communication within the department.
  • Directly address and manage Performance Improvement Plans relating to the kitting department employees.
  • Support activities between Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Quality Control/Quality Assurance as appropriate.
  • Must establish goals for each person within the department, delegate, and train others as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • If required to drive, for any reason, on behalf of the company, must possess a current and valid driver license with a driving record that meets the insurability guidelines set forth by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • All applicable employee level licenses with the Texas Railroad Commission in relation to Compressed Natural Gas. Must be able to pass exam within 90 days of hire.
  • Personal computer skills, familiarity with ERP business systems software required for the specific area of responsibility.

LIFTING REQUIREMENTS

Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
