Prep Team Members safeguard food safety, set the pace for the kitchen, and make sure our team has everything needed to serve guests with speed, accuracy, and care.

Role Summary

The Kitchen Prep Team Member prepares ingredients, organizes product, and supports the BOH team to ensure each shift is set up for success. This role emphasizes accuracy, pace, food safety, and organization. Prep directly impacts throughput, accuracy, and food quality by following recipes, adhering to portioning standards, and supporting BOH production needs.

This role is foundational to two pillars of Winning Hearts Every Day: Craveable Food and Operational Excellence.

Key ResponsibilitiesPreparation & Organization
  • Prepare produce, fruit, salads, and ingredients according to Chick-fil-A specifications
  • Follow all recipes, portioning standards, and labeling requirements
  • Communicate product levels, shortages, or quality concerns to BOH leadership
Food Safety & Cleanliness
  • Execute all prep tasks in alignment with Food Safety 5
  • Follow FIFO rotation and ensure proper storage of all TCS items
  • Perform and document daily temperature checks
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized prep area throughout the shift
  • Follow dishwashing, sanitation, and cleaning procedures
Operational Support
  • Set up BOH stations with accurate, fresh product before peak periods
  • Assist BOH team members during high-volume times when needed
  • Communicate needs clearly with Shift Leaders and ADs
  • Immediately notify leadership of any equipment, product, or quality issues
  • Support transitions between breakfast, lunch, and evening periods through accurate prep
Team & Culture
  • Work collaboratively with BOH and FOH team members
  • Support a positive, encouraging kitchen environment
  • Take ownership of tasks and follow directions from Shift Leaders
  • Show initiative by staying ahead of needs and anticipating bottlenecks
Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 40 lbs
  • Able to stand for extended periods
  • Available to work at least 4-5 shifts per week
  • Saturday availability required
  • Strong attention to detail and time management
  • Willingness to learn and follow Chick-fil-A systems and standards
