Job description

FULL TIME POSITION 40 HOURS PER WEEK - MONDAY THROUGH SUNDAY
General Description:
Performs janitorial and cleaning activities within well established guides and assigned areas.
Duties:
  • Receives assignments from Housekeeping Supervisor
  • Turn off lights all around building when scheduled at 7:30 am
  • Always use a cart or dolly when moving heavy furniture. Never drag heavy furniture across the carpet because it causes permanent damage to the carpet
  • Main entrance: outside smoking area check for debris, cobwebs, sweep area, hose off weekly or more if needed. Empty ashtrays, wash windows and doors, vacuum foyer and front lobby
  • Mop floors in all restrooms throughout the building
  • Vacuum dining room after mealtimes
  • Take out trash in all areas of building: kitchen, laundry, truck dock, wellness center, activity room, etc
  • Vacuum Main hallways every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 9:00 am or as needed
  • Shampoo carpets as needed and clean any accidents as needed
  • Change light bulbs when necessary
  • Plunge toilets as necessary
  • Attend to resident's needs
  • Assist with furniture moves lifting up to 50 lbs. (See physical and environmental requirements.)
  • Snow removal in winter months
  • Water courtyards in summer months when maintenance supervisor is absent

h2, Duties on afternoon shift:
  • At 5:00 pm lock door #6 by maintenance office at 8:00 pm. Also lock the truck dock door and front entrance (turn off both door openers)
  • Turn on all lights outside and in courtyards. Turn off hallway lights
  • Close kitchen down, sweep and mop floors including dish cleaning area. Wash mats and vacuum dining room. Follow porter duties as instructed by supervisor. Mop the walk-in fridge
  • Before leaving do a final walk thru of the building for any mess, and turn off all the lights in kitchen and dining room
  • This list is to be completed every night:
    • Dishwasher is to be sprayed inside and outside with lime-away. (This will control the soap scum buildup
    • Rinse down and wipe both ends of the dish washing tables. (Clean with cleanser twice a week.)
    • Make sure that the garbage disposal is run and flushed before leaving
    • Spray floor mats
    • Clean the tile floor with the provided chemical every night. (Clean under the dish washing area especially well)
    • Keep checking on the drains to make sure that they are not full of build up from the soap. If they are, us the drain brush and hot water to clean them
    • Spray garbage disposal and plumbing with lime-away every 2-3days. (Make sure to let it sit for about 5 minutes before rinsing)
    • Wash garbage cans every night

Qualifications:
  • At least 18 years of age
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Able to read, write and speak English
  • Physically healthy and strong enough to perform duties
  • Must have yearly TB test or chest x-ray
  • Must be familiar with basic housekeeping functions
