Direct Supervisor: Food Services Manager
Work Environment: Operate within an industrial kitchen setting and handle meal delivery responsibilities. This includes driving a KCR company vehicle to Head Start locations in Bremerton in various weather conditions.

Job Summary
Kitsap Community Resources kitchen staff help prepare meals for the children in Head Start, Meals on Wheels for the senior population, Naval Daycares and a few Senior Citizen Centers daily. This position is responsible for all aspects of meal service including food preparation, food quality and quantity, storage, sanitation, dishwashing and service to a variety of customers. This position requires doing a variety of duties including but not limited to assisting the cooks, food preparation, food packaging, food quality and quantity, storage, sanitation, all dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, general cleaning duties, organization of freight deliveries, inventory, and daily meal deliveries.

After a 2-week training period, the On Call Kitchen Aide will be called on short notice to cover shifts starting as early as 4:30am and ending as late as 3:30pm Monday- Friday.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Required Education: High school diploma or GED.
  2. Six months of food service experience required.
  3. Experience in the institutional kitchen field with heavy production emphasis.
  4. Must have a valid food handlers permit.
  5. Must have a valid Washington State Drivers License.
  6. Ability to pass State and/or Federal Background Checks as determined by position (prior to hire date).

      Preferred Qualifications:

      1. Must demonstrate recognition and compassion for low-income peoples.
      2. Must be aware and sensitive to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).
      3. Must have good communication skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
      4. Must have excellent personal cleanliness and hygiene.
      5. Must have good organizational and interpersonal skills and be willing to work as part of a team.
      6. Must be able to exhibit regular daily attendance.

              License(s) and/or Certifications:

              1. Valid Washington State Driver's License to operate company vehicles and/or utilize other vehicles for company business.

                          Responsibilities- Included but are not limited to
                          1. Verify accuracy of kitchen's pack out work daily.
                          2. Tracking of daily meal counts for a variety of contracts.
                          3. Pack out cold and hot food to meal sites daily.
                          4. Deliver cold and hot food to meal sites daily.
                          5. Pick up dishes and leftovers at meal sites and return to kitchen.
                          6. Assist in monthly inventory.
                          7. Prepare frozen meals snacks and breakfast breakouts as needed.
                          8. Assist cooks in the kitchen as needed.
                          9. Assist with food breakouts when needed.
                          10. Assemble and deliver food items to all Head Start sites when directed.
                          11. Assist with food and supply inventories when needed.
                          12. Report to and accept assignments from Food Service manager.
                          13. Daily set up dish room and operate dishwasher scraping, cleaning, and sanitizing all dishes silverware, pots and pans.
                          14. Clean all incoming dirty dishes count box.
                          15. Arrange for the next day delivery.
                          16. Accepts other duties as assigned.
