Description:

Description: Under the supervision of the Assistant Operations Director, the Kitchen Aide will assist in food preparation, serving daily meals for shelter guests. This includes three meals a day as well as food storage, food inventory, keep the kitchen and food service areas clean, healthy, and safe per local and state regulations.


This is a part-time position with benefits, the schedule is from Tuesday - Friday from 2:00 pm-10:00 pm


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with food storage, food preparation, serving daily meals for shelter clients
  • Coordinate and supervise the kitchen volunteers
  • Coordinate and work with other kitchen staff in ordering and inventorying food supplies
  • Operate kitchen equipment as assigned and report any malfunctioning equipment or unsafe conditions in the kitchen.
  • Sort, organize and put away deliveries and food donations and maintain inventory for delivered and donated foods
  • Follow all posted instructions to ensure each resident's special needs are met (special diet, food allergies, etc.).
  • Keep the kitchen and dining room cabinets and counter tops clean and floors swept and mopped, Prepare and clean kitchen areas daily, for service.
  • Empty the kitchen and dining room trash daily or more often as needed
  • Keep refrigerators, freezers, ovens, pantries, and storage areas clean, sanitary, and organized and see that preventative maintenance is provided as needed for kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain a regular rotation of food items, stock in cabinets, refrigerators, and freezers.
  • Attend and participate in mandatory training, staff meetings, and all other events, as required.
  • Checking and recording daily temperature logs
  • Maintain an attitude of respect for residents of shelter.
  • Monitors the conduct and behavior of residents, reporting any unusual and critical incidents to Case Aide Lead, Operation Director and Program Director.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Minimum 6 to 12 months related experience. Will consider combination of qualifications equal to educational and work experience.
  • Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Knowledge and experience in administering CPR and minor first aid.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
