Job Description

The Shipping & Receiving Assistant is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments and receiving incoming materials in support of daily operations. Shipments may include palletized goods, laboratory equipment and supplies, collection kit materials, office supplies, biological samples, and confidential results. This role ensures accurate handling, organization, and tracking of inventory to support timely order fulfillment and operational efficiency. The Shipping Clerk reviews incoming and outgoing shipment schedules, documents inventory discrepancies or damage, and responds to ondemand shipping questions and escalations. The position requires frequent communication with both internal teams and external partners to confirm shipment status and resolve issues.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the shipping and receiving of all products, materials, and supplies.
  • Assemble and prepare various collection kit types for delivery to retail and corporate partners.
  • Coordinate loading and unloading of goods while maintaining a positive and professional attitude when engaging with vendors and drivers.
  • Inspect incoming shipments against packing lists and shipping documents; record shortages and reject damaged goods as appropriate.
  • Determine appropriate shipment methods and prepare shipping labels, commercial invoices, and other required documentation.
  • Troubleshoot shipping issues and customer or partner complaints, working proactively toward resolution.
  • Monitor shipment tracking information and provide timely updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Support shippingrelated inquiries and escalations as needed.
  • Identify priority or highrisk shipping issues and escalate when necessary.
  • Maintain organized inventory systems to ensure efficient retrieval of materials.
  • Adhere to compliance requirements, company policies, and confidentiality standards.
  • Manage time effectively and consistently meet established performance metrics.
  • Demonstrate initiative and assist team members as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and organized schedules.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while remaining a collaborative team contributor

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in shipping, receiving, inventory handling, or material storage preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, shipping manifests, and packing lists.
  • Proficiency with relevant computer systems, shipping platforms, and basic data entry.
  • Ability to operate power tools and/or hand tools safely.
  • Completion of HIPAA training or ability to complete training upon hire.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold high ethical standards.
  • Strong problemsolving skills and ability to work within established processes.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to alternate between standing and sitting and perform physical movements including bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies or finished product.
  • Ability to visually identify, distinguish, and verify collection kit components and materials.
  • Frequent grasping, handling, and manual manipulation using both hands.
  • Excellent handeye coordination.
  • Manual dexterity required for repetitive assembly of diagnostic and collection kits.

Compensation:

  • $15.25-$16.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm
