Job description

NOW HIRING: We are hiring a 1st shift Kitting Kit/Pack Operator 1 to join our Transportation and Infrastructure team. The Kit/Pack Operator 1 is responsible for the identification and location of specific component parts, preparation of products for shipment, and delivering the materials/products to their intended locations.

Job Title: Kit/Pack Operator 1
Location: Winsted, MN
Salary Range: $19.13 – 22.50 per hour (non-exempt)
(In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.)
Shift Schedule: 1st shift Monday – Thursday 5am – 3pm
Shift Differential: 1st shift – N/A

As a Kit/Pack Operator 1, you will:

  • Uses jib cranes, related lifting devices, forklifts, or other material handling equipment to transport materials and products into and out of work areas as required
  • Packages, bands, and shrink-wraps products or loads
  • Enters job data into the production tracking system
  • Inspects material handling equipment and lifting devices
  • Processes material transactions using barcode readers
  • Checks for inventory and data recording errors daily
  • Performs cycle counts
  • Verifies quantities listed on manufacturing documentation and confirms items conform to prints
  • Properly organizes and stores materials
  • Verifies and counts parts moved to ensure paperwork accuracy and inventory integrity
  • Maintains organization of products and raw materials
  • Reads drawings/prints to identify parts
  • Gathers, picks, and assembles products according to pick lists/load lists
  • Places product in designated storage areas
  • Maintains 5S standards and workplace organization
  • Executes daily production plans to ensure material flow meets scheduling demands
  • Follows safe work procedures and consistently wears all required PPE
  • Performs work at the appropriate pace to meet quality and productivity expectations
  • Adheres to company policies related to safety, cleanliness, attendance, and workplace conduct

Role qualifications as a Kit/Pack Operator 1:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to accurately use tape measures and precision measuring devices
  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings
  • Computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, shop floor control, production planning, and inventory control systems
  • Ability to perform basic shop math functions
  • Ability to read, understand, and complete required internal manufacturing documentation
  • Ability to electronically record production information accurately
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a high-performance team
  • Ability to adapt to changing work priorities
  • Ability to work under limited supervision while following standardized practices and procedures

Physical Demands (Production Roles):

This position requires the individual to wear and work in company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE). This position requires that the individual can lift a minimum of 50lbs. And, if applicable, can maneuver large, cumbersome equipment with the use of an overhead crane and/or forklift. Must be able to work in, on, or around equipment and machinery. The employee may need to perform work with the use of ladders.
