Job description

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Anatomic Pathologist to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. The Hospital is part of NYC Health + Hospitals. Kings County Hospital operates a world-renowned Level 1 Trauma Center, one of only three in Brooklyn, which serves 2.6 million residents of Brooklyn and Staten Island. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University to maintain its high healthcare delivery standards.

Kings County is located in the East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts section of Brooklyn, close to the 2 and 5 subways. Our patients are diverse, with the majority being Afro-Caribbean. Most of our patients are native English speakers. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful, but not required. 

  • Review and sign out surgical pathology biopsies, excision, and resection cases
  • Review and sign out cytopathology cases
  • Prioritize malignant cases and submit all first-time malignant cases for daily intradepartmental consensus conference for peer review and concordance
  • Complete cases in the required turnaround time (TAT) at Kings County Hospital
  • Participate in internal/external quality assurance, performance improvement activities and programs, and departmental meetings, and facility-wide training as needed
  • Involve in processing of surgical pathology service management and quality improvement
  • Instruct residents on service of general surgical pathology and cytopathology
  • Participate in other clinical activities as requested by service director
  • NY State Medical License
  • Completion of an accredited residency/fellowship in Pathology
  • 1+ years of experience preferred - New graduating residents and fellows are encouraged to apply
  • AP/CP Board Certified or Board Eligible
