Kinetic Engineering information

What is kinetic engineering?

A Kinetic Engineering job involves designing, analyzing, and optimizing mechanical systems that rely on motion and energy transfer. Engineers in this field work on technologies such as robotics, biomechanics, automotive systems, and energy-efficient machinery. They apply principles of physics, dynamics, and materials science to develop innovative solutions for motion-related challenges. Often, Kinetic Engineers collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance system performance and efficiency in sectors like aerospace, manufacturing, and renewable energy.

What skills and qualifications are needed for kinetic engineering?

To thrive in kinetic engineering, you typically need a solid background in mechanical engineering, physics, and mathematics, supported by a relevant degree such as a BS or MS in Mechanical or Kinetic Engineering. Experience with CAD software, motion analysis tools, and industry-standard simulation platforms is highly beneficial, and professional certifications like PE licensure may be required for certain positions. Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and teamwork are crucial for designing and optimizing kinetic systems. These capabilities enable professionals to develop innovative solutions for motion-related challenges and ensure reliable system performance in complex engineering projects.

What types of projects or products do kinetic engineers typically work on?

Kinetic engineers often work on projects involving the design and optimization of moving mechanical systems, such as automation machinery, robotics, engines, and energy recovery systems. Day-to-day tasks may include performing motion analysis, creating detailed 3D models in CAD software, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to solve dynamic engineering challenges. Depending on the employer, kinetic engineers might contribute to sectors like automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, or renewable energy. This diverse project exposure allows professionals to deepen their technical skills and opens up opportunities for career advancement into specialized or leadership roles.

Re-posted 27 days ago

Job description

You have a Ph.D. in an Engineering discipline and Bioengineering/Biomechanics experience involving human body kinematics and kinetics or injury research. You want to use your training, education, and experience in a new and meaningful way.

You are already an expert. Robson Forensic will train you to be a forensic expert.

As a Biomechanical Engineering Forensic Expert, you will:

  • Apply scientific and engineering principles of bioengineering and biomechanics to investigate incidents involving claimed injuries/fatalities due to an event.
  • Analyze and evaluate the technical and scientific aspects of incidents, injuries, and medical device failures.
  • Write clear, scientifically sound reports.
  • Provide expert testimony.

You will delve into the technical and scientific aspects of incidents, determining how and why an injury occurred from an engineering standpoint. You will analyze the forces and motions involved to figure out if the alleged injuries are consistent with the event. Areas of investigation include injury biomechanics/orthopedic biomechanics applied to events such as vehicle collisions, sports & recreation, occupation, assaults, falls, etc. This role offers you a chance to:

  • Use your cumulative training, experience, and critical thinking skills.
  • Collaborate with highly respected experts.
  • Continuously learn and grow.
  • Make a tangible difference.

Locations: Las Vegas, NV & Irving, TX (hybrid)

Requirements:

  • Education: Ph.D. in an engineering discipline & a B.S. in Engineering from an ABET-accredited University.
  • Experience: Bioengineering/biomechanics experience involving human body kinematics and kinetics or injury research; Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) experience is a plus.
  • Skills: Excellent technical, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Work Style: Approx. 20% travel for training; the remainder is focused on reviewing case materials, analysis and documentation preparation, working independently and as part of a collaborative team, case and client management.
  • Prior forensic experience is not required. We seek professionals eager to apply their deep biomechanical knowledge to a challenging new domain.

You must have a clean background screen, a driver’s license, and the ability to drive.
