A high school diploma. Incumbents in a licensed child care facility must meet the requirements of Chapter 402, Florida Statutes, including a DCF Level 2 Background Check.
Job Description:
  • Work with the Pre-K Instructor to monitor, assist, and work with students.
  • Follow classroom teacher's instructional plan.
  • Maintaining a safe, healthy, and hygienic environment for all children (children ages infant to 5 years).
  • Assist with maintaining a learning environment that is supportive of children's growth, development and learning through age and developmentally appropriate lessons and activities
  • Assist teacher(s) with implementing weekly lesson plans that address social, emotional, physical, and cognitive areas and demonstrate respect in language, culture, and learning styles.
  • Supervising safety and educational learning while on field trips.
  • Communication and supporting parents to ensure the needs of children and families are met.
  • Demonstration of professional work habits, including working assigned hours, adherence to leave policies, maintaining confidentiality of child and family information, appropriate communication with colleagues and supervisors and support of special activities at P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School.

Assistant teachers must be physically able to perform all duties related to the care and teaching of young children with reasonable accommodation, including repeated bending, kneeling, sitting on the floor and frequent hand washing.

$21-$23 / hour
Required Qualifications:
