To thrive as a Kill Switch Engineer, you need a strong background in cybersecurity, network engineering, and system architecture, often supported by a relevant degree such as computer science or information technology. Familiarity with intrusion detection systems (IDS), automated response tools, and certifications like CISSP or CEH is highly valued. Excellent troubleshooting skills, clear communication, and the ability to respond calmly under pressure are key soft skills for this position. These capabilities ensure swift, secure implementation of critical fail-safe mechanisms to protect organizational assets and maintain operational resilience.
Kill Switch Engineers often face the challenge of designing and maintaining fail-safe mechanisms that must work flawlessly under emergency conditions, requiring robust testing and rapid response capabilities. They regularly collaborate with security teams, network administrators, and IT leadership to ensure the kill switch functions as intended and meets evolving compliance standards. Engineers must also stay proactive in updating protocols to address emerging cyber threats and minimize the risk of accidental triggers. The dynamic nature of the field means adaptability and continuous learning are critical for success.
A Kill Switch Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining emergency shutdown mechanisms for software, hardware, or network systems. These engineers ensure that critical systems can be safely and efficiently deactivated in case of security threats, software failures, or other emergencies. They work closely with cybersecurity teams, developers, and infrastructure engineers to integrate fail-safe mechanisms that protect data and infrastructure. Their role is crucial in industries like finance, defense, and telecommunications, where system integrity and security are top priorities.

Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.
About the Role:
Sensor Foundations is seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager who is technical, collaborative, and excited about building security products that run at the edge. The Falcon sensor runs on every endpoint our customers protect, across Windows, macOS, and Linux, and it has to detect and stop threats while staying out of the user's way. In this role, you will own the strategy, roadmap, and delivery for a set of core sensor capabilities, working at the point where low-level endpoint engineering meets the broader Falcon platform. You will turn customer needs and internal stakeholder asks into clear priorities, and partner with engineering to ship sensor features that are fast, safe to deploy, and reliable across millions of hosts. The sensor is a dependency for Detection Content, Cloud, and NG-SIEM teams, so you will spend much of your time coordinating across those boundaries and making sure the dots connect. The successful candidate will interface with and influence cross-functional teams throughout the company.
What You'll Do:
Own the product strategy and roadmap for your area of the sensor, and connect it to the security outcomes customers and the business care about.
Prioritize work by customer value, risk reduction, performance impact, and engineering cost, making the tradeoffs explicit so decisions stay visible and defensible.
Partner closely with sensor, platform, and cloud engineering teams to break large technical initiatives into sequenced, shippable milestones.
Run the full lifecycle for your features: discovery, requirements, rollout, and iteration, with telemetry that tells you whether the bet is working while you can still change course.
Gather and synthesize input from customers, field teams, detection content teams, and other internal product teams to understand real workflows and adoption blockers.
Work with engineering on sensor reliability, performance, and resource use across operating systems, including safe rollout patterns such as staged deployment, kill switches, and fallback paths.
Define and track the metrics for your area (deployment coverage, upgrade velocity, crash rates, performance budgets, feature adoption) and use them to guide what comes next.
Write clear problem statements, PRDs, and success metrics that engineering can build against.
What You'll Need:
6+ years of product management experience in B2B software, with at least 3 years owning security, endpoint, client-agent, or platform/infrastructure products.
Experience shipping and iterating on software that runs on customer devices: endpoint agents, system services, drivers, or similar (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
A track record of working day to day with engineering teams, including backlog ownership, tradeoff calls, and iterative delivery.
Comfort with technical topics (OS internals, security controls, telemetry, APIs, deployment tooling, cloud services) and the ability to translate them into business outcomes.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce a clear product doc and defend a roadmap decision to both engineers and executives.
A habit of using data and customer feedback to make decisions and explain them.
Capability to prioritize numerous simultaneous tasks across teams.
Demonstrated effectiveness in working with both local and remote teams.
Willingness to travel up to 20% to customer and CrowdStrike locations. [confirm expectation]
BA or BS degree in an applicable technical field or equivalent work experience.
Bonus Points:
Background in cybersecurity, specifically endpoint security, EDR, or XDR.
Platform product management experience: building reusable internal services and APIs that other product teams depend on.
Familiarity with enterprise endpoint deployment and management (MDM, RMM, configuration management).
Experience partnering with security research, threat intelligence, or detection content teams.
Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes.
Bachelors Degree preferred
#LI AP1
