Starting at: $18.00

Hours: Must work both am and pm shifts

AM Monday through Friday 7:00am - 8:30am

PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 3:00pm - 6:00pm and Wednesday 2:00pm - 6:00pm


JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Youth Manager, the Kids' Club Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing day to day activities along with supervising staff and overall site operations in the Kids' Club program.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Supervise children ranging from Kindergarten through 5th grades.
  • Create monthly lesson plans that include theme days, special crafts and other activities.
  • Maintain a commitment to the development of each child's self-esteem by providing a safe, fun and nurturing environment through age appropriate activities, crafts and games.
  • Document accurate attendance, sign in/outs, and take the necessary steps to check on absent children.
  • Maintain an appropriate staff to child ratio.
  • Collect all required forms prior to child's participation.
  • Utilize and complete all required internal documentation. Supervise daily staff performance and conduct a final performance evaluation for all Kids' Club counselors.
  • Effectively communicate information regarding Kids' Club policies to participants.
  • Delegate responsibilities to other staff as needed.
  • Keep open communication between staff, children, and parents.
  • Communicate any concerns to the Youth Manager regarding staff and/or participants.
  • Stimulate good relationships with other sites to promote a fun team atmosphere.
  • Keep an accurate time sheet with hours worked.
  • Attend all monthly staff meetings and other required training and events that are scheduled after normal working hours.
  • Performs the job safely and in compliance with district policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
  • Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.


    SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

    • Subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions at District 59 schools.
    • Physical agility to participate with children and maintain mobility throughout the site.
    • Subject to modified/flexible work schedule.
    • Must work closely with co-workers and communicate any special needs or considerations.
    • Able to work under stressful situations when First Aid or CPR is required, including the ability to respond quickly and accurately to any and all emergencies


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • At least 21 years of age and/or at least two years Before and After School experience.
    • Valid CPR, First Aid, and AED (Pediatric and Adult) Certifications.
    • Know developmentally appropriate activities for the age of the children
    • Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees.
    • Effective leadership skills.
    • Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions.


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum two years' experience working in a childcare setting.
