Job description

PreK & Kindergarten Kids Club Director – Seasonal 

Maclay School is currently seeking a responsible, energetic leader with a genuine passion for working with children to apply for the PreK & Kindergarten Kids Club Director position for the upcoming school year.

Purpose: The main responsibility of this position is to support PreK & Kindergarten students by fostering an enjoyable, safe, and enriching experience through simple crafts, games, and providing direction to all LevelUp Enrichment programs and after-school Auxiliary Programs.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Charged with fostering the physical, emotional, and social well-being of PreK and Kindergarten students in the after-school care program  

  • Prepare daily activities and schedules that incorporate Maclay’s Mission and Vision into the daily routine. 

  • Prepare activities that are developmentally appropriate for the age of the students attending. 

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance for students, enrichments, and Kids Club staff 

  • Effective daily communication with parents when questions or concerns are presented. 

  • Guide students enrolled in after-school Auxiliary Programs to their respective location.  

  • Report any problems which arise with students, enrichments, or staff to the Director of Auxiliary Programs in a timely manner.  

  • Supervise, assist, and actively participate in all aspects of the student’s day. 

  • Maintain positive relationships with students by showing sensitivity to student’s emotional needs and problem solving any student issues effectively. 

  • Act as a role model for students by following all policies and demonstrating enthusiasm, sense of humor, and self-control. 

  • Implement positive behavior-management techniques and communicate with the designated Student Support Team when concerns are presented. 

  • Help maintain space and supplies. 

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma, preferred degree in early childhood education (or pursing degree) 

  • Part-time availability, Monday through Friday from 2:30pm – 6:00pm 

  • Demonstrated experience working with children in a group setting.  

  • Ability to teach, lead, and participate in various recreational activities. 

  • Excellent character, integrity, and adaptability. 

  • Ability to communicate and work with a variety of ages and skill levels. 

  • The desire and ability to work in a cooperative, collaborative atmosphere. 

  • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control. 

General: 

  • Demonstrates and enthusiastically supports the School’s Mission and values of integrity, accountability, respect, compassion, and excellence. 

  • Performs in a manner that reflects positively on Maclay School  

  • Builds deep relationships with students, families, and staff to foster a culture of inclusion. 

  • Performs other duties as requested. 

Physical Requirements and ADA Statement  

This role requires regular movement between classrooms and buildings, participation in classroom observations, and navigating indoor and outdoor spaces. The position also requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, communicate clearly, operate standard technology, and occasionally lift up to 20–30 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
