Description
Job Title: Kid Zone Staff
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Pay: $11.00/hour
Status: Part time
Availability to include:
Thursday 5pm-8pm
Saturday 9am-12am
POSITION SUMMARY:
Kid Zone is a member service that provides a safe and fun environment for the care of children while parents/caregivers use the YMCA facilities. It is the expectation that all Kid Zone Team Members are committed to providing quality experience to children and parents that focuses on belonging while building relationships among youth and within families.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Provides a safe, caring and enriching environment within the established guidelines.
  2. Nurtures children through purposeful play and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
  3. Supervises the children and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards.
  4. Makes ongoing, systematic observations of each child.
  5. Cultivates positive relationships, and maintains effective communication
  6. with parents.
  7. Maintains program site and equipment.
  8. Maintains required program records.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
  10. Responsible for cleanliness of the Kid Zone room and its contents.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 14 years of age; providing student work permit required by state law.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of
  • hire date.
  • Previous experience working with children preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate activities.
  • Interest in serving a diverse population. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships
  • with people from different backgrounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • May not change diapers. Parents should be contacted in a timely manner.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
