The Volunteer & Special Events Coordinator builds strong community relationships while helping grow awareness and support for The Salvation Army's mission throughout Greater Green Bay. Working closely with the Director of Development, this role leads volunteer recruitment, training, coordination, recognition, and retention, while also supporting fundraising, special events, and seasonal initiatives. This position connects community members, businesses, donors, and volunteers with meaningful opportunities to make a difference and helps create positive, engaging experiences that strengthen The Salvation Army's impact in the community.

This full time exempt role has a pay rate of $53,000-$59,000/ year dependent on skills and experience.The position offers a generous benefits package that includes excellent health, dental, vision, and hearing insurance as well as paid time off that includes 15 days of vacation per year, 12 sick days per year (6 of which can be taken like vacation days), 12 paid holidays, 2 personal days, and the ability to earn an additional 2 days of PTO through our wellness program. Job Objective:

This position will work in close collaboration with the Director of Development in cultivating community relationships, increasing awareness of The Salvation Army's mission, and expanding opportunities throughout the Greater Green Bay Community. This position is also responsible for the recruitment, coordination, training, recognition, and retention of volunteers, as well as the planning, preparation, and execution of designated special events and seasonal initiatives.

The Volunteer & Special Events Coordinator maintains a thorough understanding of all Salvation Army programs to effectively match volunteers with appropriate service opportunities across departments. This role serves as a key liaison between The Salvation Army and community stakeholders, helping to strengthen volunteer involvement, supporting fundraising and development efforts, and enhancing the organization's impact within the community.

Volunteer Coordination

• Develop and implement strategies to recruit, engage, and place volunteers, including identifying and creating new volunteer opportunities in coordination with staff.
• Utilize and maintain the Golden volunteer management system and manage necessary records, reports, and other data functions related to volunteers.
• Cultivate, evaluate, recognize, and steward relationships with volunteers to promote a positive volunteer experience and encourage long-term involvement.
• Screen prospective volunteers and community service workers and coordinate the orientation and placement process.
• Collaborate with all Officers and/or program directors of Green Bay Corps and Kroc to establish and support volunteer needs for all departments and locations.
• Recruit, train, and supervise seasonal staff for the Red Kettle Christmas campaign.
• Serve as the lead role for volunteer recruitment, coordination, and communication efforts associated with the Red Kettle Christmas campaign.

Special Events

• Serve as an ambassador for The Salvation Army when engaging with volunteers, donors, sponsors, community organizations, businesses, and civic groups.

• Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to secure sponsorships, in-kind donations, and participation in fundraising initiatives and special events.

• Represent The Salvation Army at community events, networking opportunities, presentations, and outreach activities to increase awareness of the organization's mission, programs, and volunteer opportunities.

• Maintain accurate and organized records, spreadsheets, and related documentation for fundraising.

• Coordinate the planning and implementation of fundraising events, community engagement activities, and other special events as assigned.

• Photograph events as directed by supervisor and/or marketing department.

Minimum Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: Associate's Degree in business, communications, nonprofit management, marketing, or related fields.

Experience: Two years' experience in volunteer coordination, event planning, development, or related responsibilities.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Certifications: Valid Wisconsin Driver's license (and must maintain clearance to drive from TSA's insurance carrier). First Aid, CPR and AED Certification with Naloxone administration is required within 60 days of hire.

Skills:

• Work well with various age and socioeconomic groups. Respect and honor cultural and human diversity.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with public speaking experience preferred.
• Strong skills in planning, organization, attention to detail, and time management.
• Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, internet, e-mail and database knowledge.
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with local businesses, community organizations, high schools, colleges, civic groups, and other community partners.
• Ability to represent the organization professionally and positively in public settings.
• Knowledge of appropriate communication strategies for different audiences, including community members, employees, organizational leaders, and the media.

Supervisory Responsibility: Supervises Christmas seasonal staff.

This position will occasionally require evening, weekend, and holiday work as needed for special events.

At times the duties will involve working with individuals having infectious and/or communicable diseases.
