About the Role
This is not a traditional help desk role.
We're looking for a highly technical, hands on IT Technician to support Skydio's manufacturing environment in Hayward. This role is focused on deep troubleshooting, Linux support, identity systems, and network triage.
You'll be the frontline technical expert for employees, capable of diagnosing complex issues across Linux systems, identity platforms (Okta, JumpCloud), and on prem network infrastructure.
This role is critical to keeping our manufacturing environment running smoothly and requires someone who is comfortable going deep technically while still being highly responsive and collaborative.
Location
Onsite - 5 days/week, Monday - Friday: 3:30pm - 12am

What You'll Do
Advanced Endpoint & OS Support (Linux first)
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across Linux (primary), macOS, and Windows systems
  • Diagnose OS level problems (performance, services, networking, permissions, etc.)
  • Support engineering and manufacturing workflows running on Linux machines
  • Perform system provisioning, reimaging, patching, and hardware diagnostics

Identity & Device Management (Okta + JumpCloud)
  • Handle user lifecycle actions in Okta (lockouts, reactivations, group changes, MFA issues)
  • Troubleshoot SSO and access related issues across integrated applications
  • Manage devices in JumpCloud (reenrollment, policy issues, locked devices)
  • Ensure endpoints are properly enrolled, compliant, and operational

Network Troubleshooting & Support
  • Act as first responder for network related issues onsite
  • Troubleshoot connectivity problems (wired & wireless)
  • Assist with:
    • Switch troubleshooting (ports, VLANs, cabling issues)
    • Wireless network issues
    • Identifying outages or degraded performance
  • Partner with the Network Engineer on escalations and implementations

Hands On IT Operations
  • Support hardware lifecycle (deployment, repair, replacement)
  • Assist with manufacturing floor IT needs and rapid response issues
  • Own problems end to end, not just ticket resolution

Documentation & Continuous Improvement
  • Document troubleshooting steps, fixes, and recurring issues
  • Contribute to internal knowledge base and process improvements
  • Identify patterns and proactively reduce repeat issues

What Makes You a Good Fit
Technical Experience
  • 4+ years in a technical IT support role (not entry-level help desk)
  • Strong hands on experience with:
    • Linux troubleshooting (required)
    • macOS and Windows support
  • Experience with Okta (SSO, MFA, lifecycle management)
  • Experience with JumpCloud or similar device management tools

Networking Fundamentals (Important)
  • Solid understanding of:
    • TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
    • VLANs, switching basics
  • Comfortable troubleshooting:
    • Network drops
    • Port issues
    • Connectivity problems across endpoints

Mindset & Approach
  • Strong problem solver who can go beyond surface level fixes
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, high interruption environment
  • Proactive - identifies issues before they become recurring problems
  • Tea -oriented and able to work closely with engineering and IT

Nice to Have
  • Certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Linux+)
  • Experience in manufacturing or lab environments
  • Exposure to scripting/automation (Bash, Python, etc.)
  • Obtaining FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days of employment is strongly encouraged for all Skydio employees and required for certain positions.
