Key Tech information

What is a key tech?

Key Techs, often referred to as Key Technicians, are professionals responsible for the setup, maintenance, and operation of technical equipment in various industries, such as film, television, live events, or manufacturing. Their duties typically include ensuring that all technical systems are running smoothly, troubleshooting any issues that arise, and collaborating with other team members to support production goals. Key Techs may specialize in areas like lighting, sound, or camera equipment, depending on the industry. Strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a key tech, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Key Technician, you need expertise in locksmithing, key cutting, and security hardware, usually backed by a high school diploma and relevant vocational training or certification. Familiarity with key duplication machines, lock-picking tools, and digital access control systems is commonly required. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and strong customer service skills help you excel in handling security concerns and client needs. These abilities are essential for ensuring property security, customer trust, and efficiency in residential, commercial, or automotive settings.

What are some common challenges faced by key techs, and how can they be addressed on the job?

Key Techs often work in fast-paced environments where troubleshooting and resolving technical issues quickly is essential. A common challenge is balancing multiple urgent requests while maintaining high-quality work, especially during peak hours or critical system failures. To address this, it helps to develop strong organizational skills, prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain clear communication with both team members and end-users. Additionally, staying up-to-date with the latest tools and technologies in your field can help streamline processes and minimize downtime.

Job description

It's more than a job

With a sales career at Kuehne+Nagel, you'll drive long-term business success by mastering sales strategies, nurturing customer relationships and identifying new opportunities. But you will also bring relief and peace of mind to pet owners around the world. Because when you do your job, your colleagues around the world are able to build reliable veterinary supply chains that ensure pets get the care they need. At Kuehne+Nagel, our work is about more than we imagine.

At Kuehne+Nagel, we are helping some of the world's most innovative technology companies navigate increasingly complex global supply chains. As growth accelerates across Semiconductor, AI Infrastructure, Cloud Computing, Data Centers, and Hyperscaler ecosystems, we are seeking a strategic and commercially driven Global Key Account Manager (GKAM) to join our Technology Vertical team.

This role is ideal for an experienced account management professional who thrives in a customer-facing environment, enjoys developing executive-level relationships, and can independently drive growth across strategic global accounts. The successful candidate will play a critical role in defining account strategy, identifying new business opportunities, and partnering with internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.

Working closely with senior customer stakeholders and Kuehne+Nagel's global network, this individual will help support the continued expansion of our Technology Vertical during an exciting period of growth fueled by semiconductor recovery, cloud infrastructure investments, and AI-driven demand.

How you create impact
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for assigned global customers, aligning customer objectives with Kuehne+Nagel solutions and capabilities.
  • Own the end-to-end commercial customer journey and act as the primary customer advocate within Kuehne+Nagel.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships across customer supply chain, logistics, procurement, and commercial teams.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within existing and prospective strategic accounts.
  • Drive account growth through consultative selling, cross-selling, and solution-based business development initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, pricing, vertical leadership, and business unit stakeholders to deliver customer solutions and operational excellence.
  • Lead customer account reviews focused on performance, continuous improvement, innovation, and long-term strategic planning.
  • Develop deep understanding of customer business models, competitive landscapes, and industry trends within the Technology Vertical.
  • Support growth initiatives across semiconductor, cloud infrastructure, AI ecosystems, contract manufacturing, and related technology sectors.
  • Manage commercial negotiations, service agreements, and rate discussions in coordination with relevant business units.
  • Monitor and manage sales pipelines, opportunities, account performance, and revenue growth against established targets.
  • Leverage internal and external networks to accelerate customer engagement and business development success.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships across the Kuehne+Nagel organization to effectively navigate complex customer requirements.
  • Successfully transition new business opportunities into operational execution while ensuring customer commitments are met.
  • Operate as a highly autonomous and proactive leader capable of driving strategic initiatives with minimal supervision.
What we would like you to bring
  • Proven experience in Global Account Management, Strategic Account Management, Key Account Management, or Enterprise Sales roles.
  • Demonstrated track record of business development, account growth, and consultative selling success.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to build relationships with senior customer stakeholders.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across a matrix organization.
  • Self-starter mentality with a high level of ownership, initiative, and accountability.
  • Strong negotiation, persuasion, and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Broad knowledge of supply chain and logistics solutions across Air, Ocean, Road, Contract Logistics, and Integrated Logistics is preferred.
  • Experience supporting Technology, Semiconductor, Cloud Infrastructure, AI, Electronics, Healthcare, Automotive, or other complex industrial sectors is highly valued.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities and global stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, International Studies, or a related discipline preferred.

This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.
