Job Title: Key Account Specialist Exempt Status: Exempt

Department: Member Services Position Classification: Full-time, Permanent

The selected candidate may work from any of our four office locations, Nicholasville, Lawrenceburg, Richmond, or Cynthiana) based on business needs and candidate preference.

Position Summary: Blue Grass Energy Cooperative is a member-owned utility dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and affordable electric service to its communities. Guided by the principle of "members first," Blue Grass Energy focuses on strong member relationships while continuously improving service, infrastructure, and innovation.

The Key Accounts Specialist plays a vital role in supporting this mission by serving as the contact person that manages the relationship between Blue Grass Energy and its key commercial and industrial accounts to improve the ease with which the key account conducts business with the cooperative. The Key Accounts Specialist familiarizes Blue Grass Energy and its key accounts with utility and key account industry issues. This position establishes and manages a program that promotes Key Account loyalty and encourages new business expansion within Blue Grass Energy's territory. The Key Account Specialist serves as the liaison and the contact for the Cooperative's commercial and industrial members and the single point of coordination within the cooperative to optimize the member relationship. Additionally, the KA Specialist is charged with performing rate and usage analysis for members of the KA program and developing and administering special KA programs and strategy/support activities. Responsibilities also include involvement with economic development groups to advance the business climate. This position supports the overall strategic plans and initiatives of the Cooperative.


Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and maintains Blue Grass Energy's Key Accounts Program. Establishes short and long-term business objectives related to Blue Grass Energy's Key Accounts Program.
  • Serves as the liaison and the contact for the Cooperative's commercial and industrial members and the single point of contact within the company to optimize the member relationship.
  • Performs rate analysis and usage analysis for members of the Key Accounts program.
  • Facilitates execution of contracts and agreements with commercial/industrial members (Industrial Power Agreements, Demarcation Agreements, Economic Development Rider, Lighting, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain database of all contacts of key accounts on the network system.
  • Maintains regular contact with Key Accounts and visits Key Account facilities. Investigates and resolves matters of significance on behalf of management.
  • Reviews large power pre-bills and bills before they are sent to members.
  • Prepares interruptible adjustments with assistance from engineering department.
  • Aid in the establishment of all new Key Accounts attraction and expansion.
  • Develop menu of special programs/services and communicate same to members of Key Accounts
  • Manage the commercial incentive marketing programs in conjunction with East Kentucky
  • Process all paperwork with members and East Kentucky
  • Assists in economic development and community relations efforts as needed.
  • Represents Blue Grass Energy at various Occasionally called upon to speak and/or make presentations on behalf of the Cooperative.
  • Strategic Plan, Annual Work Plan and Budget- participate in the planning and development of the strategic plan, annual department work plan and budget for the appropriate areas of concern.
  • Monitors expenditures relating to key accounts, public relations, economic development, government relations, and other programs under the responsibility and authority of the position.
  • Performs other duties

Knowledge and Skills:

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are a must. Must possess strong decision-making skills and have a good math aptitude. Should possess fundamental knowledge of utility operations and energy management issues. Be able to foster positive relationships between the Cooperative and Commercial and Industrial members.


Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in business, public relations, communications, engineering or related field required.

NRECA Key Account certification must be completed within four years.

Experience in electric utility industry preferred.


Physical Requirements:

General office conditions apply, work outside normal hours is part of position.

In-state and out-of-state travel, some which may be overnight.
