The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Key Accounts & Emerging Channels, the Key Account Manager will be responsible for managing sales and relationships with licensed retail key accounts. This is an exciting fast-paced sales opportunity for the right self-starter who is able to build customer relationships, sell in a fact-based manner, is data and category driven, and has previous experience with retail chain management including joint business planning, sales management, and merchandise planning.

Responsibilities

Selling and Influencing

  • Manage all key accounts in an assigned region and establish Canopy Growth as a first-choice partner with key customers

  • Identify new distribution opportunities and build partnerships that maximize profitable share and volume through distribution, visibility and service

  • Execute marketing initiatives and leverage them into consumer loyalty and sales

  • Effectively manage a given key account list, ensuring all administration records and information is up to date

  • Work in conjunction with the Provincial Sales Managers, and Territory Managers to effectively lead industry and brand education sessions with key customers and their staff

  • Work together with each key accounts to develop programming, planograms and features

  • Achieve KPI targets on:

    • Volume and Share

    • In-store condition

    • Distribution

    • Product placement

    • Price accuracy and communication

    • Product quality standards

    • Compliance to approved outlet route plans and call frequency requirements

    • Representing Canopy in line with brand and merchandising guidelines

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain meaningful and valuable relationships that are favorable in supporting the annual operating plan

  • Build and develop relationships with key account owners and/or executives at a head office level

  • Build appropriate programs, planograms and product features that benefit both Canopy and the key account

  • Communicate and work cohesively with the Territory Managers on distribution, programs and features

Planning/Self-Management

  • Execute Region annual plan and commitments

  • Manage own time including building effective weekly/monthly schedules

  • Maintain and accurately track annual sales and consumer budgets on time

  • Effectively manage a budget to drive volume and share growth within acceptable trade practices, according to brand strategy and merchandising guidelines. Monitor and manage sales expenses within an allotted budget.

  • Execute all programs within established guidelines

  • Collaborate with the Provincial Sales Manager in planning sales activities and setting sales goals for assigned Region

Experience

  • University degree preferred

  • An insatiable curiosity of what makes customers tick and the ability to turn that curiosity into sales opportunities to drive Canopy Growth's and our customer's business

  • Proven track record in achieving sales quotas and in-store condition KPI's targets

  • Previous success in building and growing relationships with chain accounts.

  • Clean drivers abstract

  • A technologically savvy individual who is comfortable working in a data driven environment

  • Experience in Beverage Alcohol, FMCPG, or relatable industries an asset

  • 5+ years' experience in Sales, Account Management, Category Management or Trade Marketing in a related CPG Business

  • Proven track record of working remotely and independently
