Job description

Keo & Associates is a General Contractor/Construction Manager and Design Build Company with offices in Detroit, Chicago and Indiana whose primary projects consist of Commercial Construction.

We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the project team in the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects. This role serves as a key liaison between the field and office, ensuring that all technical aspects of construction are carried out accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

The Project Engineer

  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with daily project coordination and administration.
  • Maintain and track project schedules, RFI logs, submittals, change orders, and meeting minutes.
  • Review and manage construction documents including drawings, specifications, and addenda.
  • Interface with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely communication and resolution of issues.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials and long-lead items.
  • Support cost control efforts, including tracking quantities, reviewing subcontractor invoices, and change order management.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining project budgets and cost forecasts.
  • Ensure proper document control protocols and maintain up-to-date records on project management software (Procore, Bluebeam).
  • Conduct site walks to monitor progress and support field staff with technical information.
  • Participate in job site meetings and prepare comprehensive meeting notes and reports.
  • Promote and enforce company safety policies and assist with job hazard analysis documentation.
  • Assist with project close-out, punch list management, and turnover documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in commercial construction or construction management with a general contractor.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, safety standards, and building codes.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive, solution-driven mindset.
  • Willingness to work onsite and travel locally to project locations as needed.
