Email Marketing Specialist - Keds
The Opportunity
At Designer Brands, we believe great brands are built through meaningful connections-and this role is at the heart of how Keds connects with its customers every day. As an Email Marketing Specialist, you'll shape how we show up in inboxes and mobile devices, turning data into thoughtful, personalized experiences that inspire engagement and loyalty.
This is an opportunity to own and evolve lifecycle marketing programs that directly impact revenue and customer retention. You'll have the tools, autonomy, and cross-functional partnership to test ideas, learn quickly, and continuously improve how we engage our audience.
What you'll be doing
Campaign & Lifecycle Execution
  • Lead end-to-end execution of email and SMS campaigns in Klaviyo-building, QA'ing, launching, and optimizing each experience
  • Develop and refine lifecycle programs such as:
    • Welcome journeys
    • Browse and cart abandonment flows
    • Post-purchase engagement
    • Winback and retention campaigns
  • Support SMS marketing execution (Attentive preferred), ensuring cohesive cross-channel experiences

Segmentation & Personalization
  • Create and evolve advanced audience segmentation strategies, including:
    • Behavioral and transactional targeting
    • Lifecycle-based segmentation
    • Predictive data modeling
  • Deliver personalized, relevant messaging that strengthens engagement and drives measurable growth

Testing & Optimization
  • Design and execute A/B tests across key campaign elements, including:
    • Subject lines and messaging
    • Creative and content
    • Timing, cadence, and segmentation
  • Use structured testing methodologies to continuously improve performance and customer experience

Performance & Insights
  • Analyze campaign and flow performance across metrics such as:
    • Revenue and conversion rates
    • Engagement trends (opens, clicks)
    • Customer retention and lifetime value
  • Translate data into clear insights and actionable recommendations that drive ROI and business impact

Collaboration & Strategy
  • Partner closely with eCommerce, merchandising, and marketing teams to align on:
    • Promotional strategy
    • Campaign timing and execution
    • Product storytelling and launches
  • Contribute to a shared marketing calendar and continuously improve workflows for efficiency and scalability

Platform Ownership & Innovation
  • Serve as a Klaviyo subject matter expert, managing:
    • Complex flow logic
    • Dynamic content and personalization variables
  • Identify opportunities to enhance CRM capabilities, including:
    • Automation and process improvements
    • Advanced testing frameworks
    • Improved data utilization

What you'll need
Technical Expertise
  • Hands-on experience with Klaviyo, including campaign builds, flow creation, segmentation, and analytics
  • 2-3 years of CRM experience
  • Understanding of email marketing fundamentals:
    • Deliverability best practices
    • HTML/CSS basics
    • Dynamic content and data structures

Data & Analytical Skills
  • Experience using customer data (behavioral, transactional, lifecycle) to inform segmentation and personalization
  • Ability to interpret and act on key CRM metrics such as:
    • Revenue per recipient
    • Conversion rates
    • Customer lifetime value (LTV)
    • Engagement trends
  • Proven ability to own performance analytics and translate findings into meaningful optimizations

Testing & Optimization Mindset
