Job description
Overview
Operating rooms pulse with their own unique energy - a dynamic blend of precision, trust, and unwavering communication. As a Physician Assistant specializing in surgical care, you're well aware of the vital role you play: not only in the operating room but also by a patient's side, throughout their recovery journey, and in the essential behind-the-scenes moments that facilitate true healing.
We're on the hunt for a committed, meticulous PA to bolster our surgical services in a full-time capacity. Here, you'll partner hand-in-hand with talented surgeons and empathetic nursing staff to ensure that each patient's surgical journey is fluid, well-supported, and focused on their healing. Whether you're preparing a patient for surgery with key pre-op education or confidently managing surgical instruments in the heat of the action, your daily contributions will have a meaningful impact in an environment that genuinely appreciates your skill and dedication.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient evaluations, including physical examinations and in-depth analysis of medical histories
- Assist in diagnosing surgical conditions through precise interpretation of imaging studies and lab data
- Work collaboratively with surgeons to develop and implement individualized surgical treatment plans
- Provide crucial intraoperative support, ensuring operating rooms are ready, patients are positioned correctly, and surgical instruments are efficiently handled
- Deliver outstanding pre- and post-operative care, encompassing medication administration, wound management, discharge planning, and patient education
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Completion of clinical rotations with a focus on surgery is highly preferred
- Valid and unrestricted PA-C certification
- BLS and ACLS certifications essential
- State licensure (or eligibility) as a Physician Assistant
- Strong understanding of surgical principles and maintaining sterile technique
- Demonstrated ability to analyze diagnostic tests and contribute to intricate clinical decisions
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
- Comfortable thriving in high-pressure situations, particularly during surgical procedures
- Compassionate bedside manner, with a deep respect for the dignity and autonomy of patients
- Attractive salary complemented by performance-related bonuses
- Comprehensive health benefits (medical, dental, vision)
- Generous annual leave and CME reimbursement
- Collaborative team atmosphere with access to cutting-edge technology and resources
- Opportunities for career progression within a dynamic and expanding healthcare framework
Your Role on the Surgical Team
As a Surgical Physician Assistant, your role transcends technical expertise; it involves maintaining composure when the unexpected arises and providing assurance when a patient's anxiety looms larger than their hopes. You'll play an active role in the operating room but also serve as a steady presence in hallways, explaining diagnoses, guiding families, and supporting patients as they navigate their recovery paths.
Your expertise will be called upon during everything from minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries to complex inpatient operations. Even after surgery, your contributions are invaluable during follow-ups and recovery conversations, helping to create long-term care strategies. Your clinical insights are trusted, and your opinions are valued in every crucial decision we make.
Join a team that recognizes the importance of diverse perspectives and believes that the success of each surgery hinges on teamwork, built on trust, humility, and steadfast care.
Discover Augusta: More than Just a Location - It's a Way of Life
Once you step outside the hospital, you'll find yourself in Augusta, a city that embraces life in all its forms. Here, you'll discover a tapestry of vibrant historic neighborhoods and lush riverfront parks that provide the perfect backdrop for unwinding after a day of work.
Consider spending your weekends kayaking on the Savannah River, or immerse yourself in the area's rich history by visiting the beautiful historic sites and museums that tell the story of the South. Savor delicious Southern cuisine at local eateries where the food is crafted with the same care that you deliver to your patients. The community exudes warmth, and people greet you with genuine smiles and a sincere interest in your well-being.
With no state income tax, Augusta offers a cost of living that allows you to enjoy life to the fullest. It's not just a fantastic place to work; it's a rewarding place to create a fulfilling life that truly feels like home.
Augusta showcases a variety of lively living arrangements, from charming historic homes to modern apartments nestled in bustling districts. The arts scene? Thriving. The outdoor activities? Countless. And the community? An inviting mix of friendly faces, dedicated professionals, and spirited locals from every walk of life.
Your Perfect Fit
We seek a Physician Assistant who thrives under pressure - a professional who excels in high-stakes environments and finds purpose in thorough preparation. A candidate who listens attentively, supports their colleagues, and embraces continuous learning as much as teaching.
Whether you're at the start of your surgical career or have a wealth of intraoperative experience, we value character over credentials. If your analytical mind, steady hands, and sincere compassion for healing resonate with our mission, you'll find a perfect home here.
Join Us Where Purpose Meets Precision
This position transcends mere employment. It's a calling - to empower individuals to reclaim their strength, recover full function, and step back into their lives rejuvenated and ready to thrive.
Become part of a team where every role is prized, every success is celebrated, and every patient is more than just a case. If you're ready to channel your surgical expertise into a region that values both medical excellence and human connection, we eagerly anticipate meeting you.
