Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with 5+ years of experience and an active Hawaii RT license for a 13-week hospital assignment on the island of Kauai.

Details
  • Hospital-based respiratory therapy unit
  • Patient population includes critically ill, pediatric, and neonatal patients
  • Procedures include mechanical ventilation management, arterial punctures, ABG analysis, chest physiotherapy, pulmonary function testing, pulse oximetry, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, EEG electrode placement, and polysomnography
  • Shift flexibility required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • 13-week contract
Requirements
  • Active Hawaii Respiratory Therapist license required (license required if applicable)
  • RRT or CRT credential recognized by the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • Current BLS/BCLS certification
  • Minimum 5 years of respiratory therapy experience
  • Candidates should research housing availability on Kauai prior to applying, as options are limited
Additional Information
  • Orientation spans two days: day one covers HR onboarding, safety, risk and quality management, and compliance education; day two is dedicated to EMR training
  • Day one orientation begins at 10:00 AM
  • Applies independent clinical judgment in accordance with physicians' orders across a broad range of respiratory care scenarios
  • Responsibilities include initiating and managing life support ventilation, ventilator weaning consultation, endotracheal and tracheostomy tube management, and airway establishment during resuscitation
  • Administers aerosol treatments, interprets lab and chest X-ray results, and documents all treatments and patient responses
  • Provides patient and family education on respiratory therapy treatments, breathing exercises, aerosol therapy, and oxygen conservation techniques
  • Supports cardiopulmonary rehabilitation services including disease process education and ABG interpretation instruction
  • Maintains and performs minor repairs to respiratory therapy equipment and upholds infection control and safety standards
