Job description

Summary:
Responsible for managing Supply Chain Services at UNC Hospitals Medical Center and UNC Hospitals Hillsborough; and serves as operational lead and consultant for other UNC Hospitals' licensed or managed entities including Home Health/Hospice, Wakebrook and Chatham Hospital. Manages the flow of materials and products supplied from the Shared Services Center and other vendors/suppliers to UNC Medical Center and Hillsborough Campus including daily operations in Central Distribution, Patient Equipment, Linen, Hospital Mailroom and Print Services. Responsible for forecasting demand for clinical med/surg supplies at UNC Medical Center/Hillsborough, management of par levels and replenishment throughout both hospital campuses. Ensures appropriate and timely delivery of clean linens and arranges for daily removal of soiled linen. Assists users to manage supply par levels and utilization using Lawson ERP reports, Business Objects and Tecsys WMS. Supports VP Operations with forecasting and preparation of the annual personnel, operating and capital budgets for Medical Center and Hillsborough Supply Chain departments along with on-going monthly staffing and budget monitoring/ variance reporting. This Leader serves as the primary liaison with System Supply Chain and is the Medical Center representative and interface with the Shared Services Center team. In these roles, the Director ensures accurate and timely communication of Medical Center/Hillsborough supply needs and coordinates supply chain delivery and replenishment in coordination with System Supply Chain/SSC. The Director serves on system supply chain work teams and is relied on as a Subject Matter Expert.
Responsibilities:
Budget Management- Responsible for the budget planning and monitoring, financial forecasting, and assessment for UNC Medical Center and Hillsborough Hospital Supply Chain Services departments. Effectively uses financial information to establish and meet budgetary program goals. Implements strategies to cost-effectively manage personnel, supply, and equipment resources.
Human Resource Management- Effectively manages human resources. Creates an environment conducive to recruiting and retaining staff. Applies organizational policy and procedures in hiring, promoting, transferring and terminating staff. Provides staff with regular (monthly, quarterly, annually) recognition, annual performance feedback and the opportunity to set professional goals.
Inventory Management- Manages the tracking and reception of materials and products. Reviews work flows of materials and ensure the efficient flow from the Shared Services Center and UNC Medical Center. Defines departmental strategies for appropriate inventory levels, eliminates obsolete material and reduce aging material. Ensures proper and timely communication between Medical Center and Shared Services Center to support supply needs and makes adjustments based on evaluation and review of unit utilization reports.
Liaison- Serves as the principal point of contact between clinical and technical staff including procedural and diagnostic areas, inpatient and outpatient unit and shared services center distribution. Meets with managers to ensure that inventory is managed effectively and service levels are achieved. Through rounding, accountability systems and other management techniques ensures staff are performing at expected levels consistently
Operational Oversight- Manages customer services activities from the receiving of materials, transfer to departments and the need for emergency supplies. Ensures the proper handling of materials. Ensures that UNC Medical Center is only keeping the inventory needed and not increasing the cost of inventory purchased due to mishandling.
Serves as Supply Chain Services expert, liaison and representative on organization-wide committees, task forces and other work groups as assigned.

Education Requirements:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field. If no Bachelor's degree, candidate required to have additional 8 years of experience.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:

Professional Experience Requirements:
โ€ข Ten (10) years of experience in supply chain or logistics, including five (5) years of experience in a supply chain or logistics management/supervisory role. Prefer someone with Supply Chain leadership experience in an Acute Care Facility.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
โ€ข Must be able to use MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
