This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting that supports commercial construction projects from contract award through project closeout.

Must be comfortable working in a hands-on environment where accuracy, responsiveness, and follow-through are critical. This is a casual, friendly office environment.

  • Prepare trial balances and support month-end financial reporting activities

  • Assist leadership with project costing, financial reporting, and operational analysis

Team & Business Support

  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiencies
  • Work closely with company leadership to support day-to-day financial operations
  • Contribute to special projects and additional accounting initiatives as needed

Required Commercial Construction Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience supporting a commercial general contractor or specialty subcontractor.
  • Demonstrated experience managing contract accounting, job costing, project cost accounting, progress billings, retainage, subcontractor accounting, and Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting.
  • Experience supporting subcontractor compliance, lien waivers, project documentation, and commercial construction contract administration.
  • Experience supporting payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end close, and financial reporting within a commercial construction environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and construction accounting principles.
  • Experience partnering directly with project managers, field operations, subcontractors, and company leadership to support project financial performance.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while taking ownership of day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in the English language.

Software & Technical Skills

  • Experience with QuickBooks Online strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with construction accounting software and ERP systems is preferred
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes

Travel

  • Minimal travel required
  • Occasional visits to affiliated business locations in the Phoenix area may be needed

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Stable and growing organization
  • Opportunity for long-term professional growth and advancement
  • Exposure to both operational and strategic financial leadership
