Part-Time Producer – ESPN Milwaukee & WTMJ

(Milwaukee, WI)  

Good Karma Sports is looking for a Part-Time Producer to support programming across ESPN Milwaukee and WTMJ. This teammate will provide production support across both brands based on programming and coverage needs, including live and recorded shows, play-by-play broadcasts, and other audio and content production. 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a live broadcast environment, can think on their feet, and is interested in building experience across sports, news/talk, audio, and broadcast production. The Part-Time Producer will collaborate with hosts, broadcasters, producers, and other teammates to help deliver high-quality programming and content across ESPN Milwaukee and WTMJ. Hours will vary based on programming and coverage needs and will primarily include evenings and weekends.  

Career responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Operate the radio board for live, syndicated, and locally produced programming, maintaining appropriate audio levels and smoothly transitioning between sources. 
  • Provide production support for ESPN Milwaukee and WTMJ programming as assigned.
  • Support live play-by-play broadcasts and special programming, including coordinating with hosts, broadcasters, producers, and technical teammates. 
  • Work with hosts and broadcasters on show preparation, content planning, production elements, and live show execution. 
  • Complete broadcast logs and help ensure programming, commercials, sponsorships, contesting, and other scheduled elements air accurately. 
  • Create and implement production elements, including bumps, liners, promos, audio drops and other audio content. 
  • Edit and publish show podcasts, show audio, interviews, and other content for station and digital platforms. 
  • Assist with audio, video, and other production needs supporting programming, broadcasts, station initiatives, and events as needed.
  • Set up and operate cameras and other production equipment for live broadcasts, events, and special programming as needed.
  • Collaborate with producers, marketing teammates, engineering teammates, and others to support programming and station needs across ESPN Milwaukee and WTMJ.
  • Help identify and communicate technical issues and support the accurate execution of programming in accordance with applicable FCC requirements.
  • Stay informed about Wisconsin sports, local news, and other topics relevant to ESPN Milwaukee and WTMJ programming.
  • Use approved AI tools to support research, content development, audio and video production, editing, and production efficiency while reviewing all AI-assisted work for accuracy, quality, and alignment with brand standards.
  • Complete other assigned tasks as needed. 
  • Be a Good Karma Sports ambassador and adhere to the core values: Listen, Be Honest, Work Hard, Over Deliver, Follow Through, and Teamwork. 

Preferred knowledge, skills and qualifications 

  • Interest in sports, news/talk, radio, podcasting, or live content production. 
  • Previous radio board operation, broadcast production, or live sports production experience preferred. 
  • Experience with Adobe Audition or similar audio-editing software preferred. 
  • Basic experience setting up or operating cameras and video production equipment for live events preferred. 
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain organized during live, deadline-driven broadcasts. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with hosts, broadcasters, producers, engineers, and other teammates. 
  • Willingness to learn new broadcast systems, production tools, and processes. 
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends, based on programming and coverage needs. 

Hours/Salary/Benefits  

Good Karma part-time teammates are paid hourly, with opportunities for increased pay as they develop additional skills and responsibilities. Weekly hours will vary based on programming, play-by-play, and coverage needs across ESPN Milwaukee and WTMJ. This position will primarily require evening and weekend availability.
