Purpose/ Summary:

The Kaizen Production Office (KPO) Leader position is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of Kaizen, to include focusing on creating a workplace culture that encourages employees in all facets of the company to streamline and improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job may have supervisory responsibilities.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

Under limited supervision:

  • Coordinates and leads Kaizen workshops, including ensuring all stakeholders are included to improve processes
  • Reviews and clarifies proposed Kaizen projects, assuring appropriate team members are assigned
  • Recommends project changes and modifications as may be necessary to ensure the most favorable results
  • Supports and works closely with management
  • Supports large projects, may lead projects of small to medium scope
  • Contributes to the design, development and updating of business systems' tools
  • Tracks Kaizen Newspaper Action Items
  • Finds application opportunities for Kaizen strategy and tools and works with leadership to identify opportunities to implement
  • Serves as a change agent promoting the use of Kaizen methodology
  • Provides training on Kaizen principles
  • Develops key relationships with leadership to foster the success of improvement initiatives
  • Develops strong working relationships with management at all levels
  • Assists teams, as needed, to ensure improvements are made and sustained
  • Consolidates Kaizen Team activities and results for Business Review presentations
  • May maintain Kaizen folders in SharePoint site training materials and standard templates
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skill & Ability:

  • Knowledge of Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Fluent knowledge with data-driven analysis and performance metrics including data visualizations for presentations
  • Training skills
  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to mentor and facilitate Lean culture change in an environment with varying acceptance
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demands to meet deadlines

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with five (5) years of manufacturing experience OR an equivalent combination of experience and education to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position
  • Experience facilitating Kaizen workshops or training in Lean Manufacturing

Working conditions:

  • Maybe exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, confined quarters, vibrations and shop lighting
  • May lift up to 25 pounds
