Hotel Kabuki is seeking an exceptional Assistant Director of Operations to support the overall operation of the hotel, with primary leadership responsibility for our multi-faceted Food & Beverage Division and active involvement in Rooms Operations. This position plays a key role in driving operational excellence across the property while ensuring exceptional guest experiences, strong colleague engagement, and achievement of financial goals.
The Assistant Director of Operations oversees all food and beverage operations, including our breakfast buffet Small Farms, our lobby bar Haibu, our lobby market Konbini, our banquets division, and our employee dining program. In partnership with the Director of Operations and Rooms leadership team, this role also supports Front Office and Housekeeping operations to ensure a seamless and elevated guest experience throughout the hotel.
This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, developing high-performing teams, elevating guest satisfaction, and achieving financial goals across all divisions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on hospitality leader who thrives in a boutique hotel environment and is passionate about experiential F&B, innovation, and service excellence. While Food & Beverage leadership experience is essential, the successful candidate will also possess operational knowledge of Rooms Division functions, including Front Office and Housekeeping, and demonstrate the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a full-service hotel environment.
The Assistant Director of Operations is also responsible for supporting other divisions throughout the property to drive Hotel Kabuki's guest satisfaction and financial success.
Responsibilities include:
• Oversee daily operations, financial performance, and guest and employee satisfaction within the Food & Beverage Division, which includes our Breakfast, Bar, Culinary, Stewarding, Purchasing, and Banquets departments
• Serve as a member of Hotel Kabuki's Assistant Leadership Committee, partnering with hotel leaders to drive overall guest satisfaction, colleague engagement, and financial performance
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and labor planning for F&B, implementing cost controls, purchasing procedures, waste reduction strategies, and operational efficiencies to maximize performance and profitability
• Develop and implement food & beverage offerings, concepts, and tactics that drive sales and ensure our F&B program remains innovative and competitive within the current San Francisco market
• Analyze business trends, guest feedback, and operational data to identify opportunities, prioritize investments, and guide departmental decision-making.
• Work with Sales & Marketing to develop and execute marketing strategies, F&B promotions, and activations that increase brand visibility and market share
• Elevate our amenity and dining experience programs to align with the JdV brand
• Manage payroll, reporting, inventory, budget, and purchasing for F&B operations
• Establish strategic vendor partnerships that strengthen operational performance, brand positioning, and long-term business growth.
• Provide outstanding customer service to hotel guests and patrons of our F&B outlets; exercise empathy, tact, and discretion to resolve guest complaints when they arise
• Drive exceptional guest experiences through elevated food and beverage quality, presentation, cleanliness, and service consistency.
• Ensure full compliance with Department of Health regulations and Hyatt Corporate standards
• Elevate our banquets program, assist with menu planning and implementation, and ensure successful execution of all banquet events
• Oversee the development of F&B managers and colleagues: hire, train, empower, coach, and counsel, and implement measures to drive employee satisfaction. Complete performance and salary reviews for direct reports.
• Partner with Front Office and Housekeeping leaders to monitor service delivery, guest satisfaction scores, cleanliness standards, and operational efficiency throughout the hotel.
• Serve as the operational leader on duty as needed, supporting all hotel departments and ensuring seamless execution of daily operations.
• Provide leadership coverage for Rooms Operations during vacations, transitions, or other business needs, maintaining service standards and operational continuity.
