What is the difference between Brand Ambassador Internship vs Brand Promoter?

AspectBrand Ambassador InternshipBrand Promoter
Required CredentialsHigh school diploma or equivalent; some roles prefer marketing or communication courseworkHigh school diploma; no specific certifications required
Work EnvironmentEvent marketing, social media campaigns, brand eventsIn-store promotions, product sampling, event booths
Employer & Industry UsageBrands, marketing agencies, retailRetail stores, event companies, promotional agencies

Both roles involve promoting brands, but a Brand Ambassador Internship typically includes more strategic engagement, social media involvement, and a focus on building brand loyalty, often as part of a structured internship program. A Brand Promoter usually focuses on direct product promotion at events or retail locations, often as temporary staff. The internship offers more learning opportunities and industry exposure, while the promoter role emphasizes immediate sales and brand visibility.

What are some common challenges faced by brand ambassador interns and how can they be overcome?

Brand Ambassador Interns often face the challenge of quickly adapting to a brand's voice and values while engaging with diverse audiences. Balancing promotional tasks with creative outreach requires strong communication skills and adaptability. Interns may also need to manage time effectively, especially when juggling events, social media responsibilities, and reporting feedback. Building teamwork with marketing staff and other ambassadors is key to overcoming these challenges, as is seeking regular feedback and staying proactive in learning about the brand’s evolving goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a brand ambassador intern?

To thrive as a Brand Ambassador Intern, you need strong communication skills, creativity, and a basic understanding of marketing principles, often supported by enrollment in a relevant degree program. Familiarity with social media platforms, content creation tools, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems is typically required. Outgoing personality, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset are key soft skills that help you connect with audiences and represent the brand effectively. These skills are crucial for building brand awareness, fostering positive public engagement, and supporting marketing campaigns.

Job description

Brand Ambassador & Engagement Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Marketing
Collaborates With: Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), Marketing, Art & Sales
Level: Coordinator

Position Summary

The Brand Ambassador & Engagement Coordinator refines, builds and runs TGI's campus ambassador and internship program in collaboration with the Chief of Strategy and key stakeholders. This program is as a longevity pipeline, a stable, year-over-year program that recruits ambassadors, activates them, keeps them producing, and ensures momentum is maintained. This role also owns our affiliate marketing partnerships. You connect directly to Greek revenue, measured alongside our Greek Sales team on a shared number.

This is a structured role balancing program recruitment and activation with affiliate partnership management, grounded in measurable outputs.

Key Responsibilities

Campus Ambassador & Internship Program

  • Recruit ambassadors and interns; evaluate fit across profiles.
  • Onboard new cohorts with structured training, clear expectations, and role clarity.
  • Activate ambassadors through regular check-ins, equipment, content, and motivation to keep them producing.
  • Track ambassador activity, engagement levels, and contributions.
  • Report weekly on active/producing ambassadors and recruits; monthly on ambassador- and affiliate-influenced revenue (co-signed with Greek Sales).

Annual Program Handoff

  • Run the yearly organizational leadership handoff so program knowledge, processes, and relationships transfer forward cleanly, never get chased.
  • Document program playbooks, contact lists, and onboarding procedures.

Affiliate Marketing

  • Build and manage affiliate partnerships; negotiate terms.
  • Track affiliate performance and optimize for revenue.

Digital Engagement & Community Stewardship

  • Keep ambassadors equipped with content, talking points, and support.
  • Monitor ambassador activity across channels.
  • Steward the ambassador community and foster peer support.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in community, influencer/affiliate, or program coordination.
  • Organized and people-savvy—comfortable running a distributed group of ambassadors.
  • Proficient in Salesforce or Google Sheets tracking.
  • Greek-life and broader campus organization familiarity a plus.
  • Genuinely enjoys building programs, not just running them.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.

Growth Path

This is a program-building role with clear measurement ties to Greek revenue. Opportunities to expand into broader role as program scope grows.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000

Full-time, in-office in Tulsa, OK. Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM. Health, dental, and vision benefits. Paid time off. Smart-casual dress code. Monthly team events and a workplace culture built for people who want to do their best work.
