Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

ย 

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Junior Varsity (JV) Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for embracing Carrollton High School students' passion for competitive basketball by fostering collaboration, creating strategies, and providing mentorship. This position recruits, instructs, develops skills, and trains their respective team for competition. The JV Basketball Coach also instills high standards of ethical conduct and compliance with all Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules and regulations.

COMPENSATION:ย  Per the Carrollton Education Association Master Agreement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

ย 
  • Excellent leadership qualities.

  • Comprehensive understanding of basketball fundamentals.

  • Passion for developing youth both athletically and holistically.

  • Experience supervising others is desired.

  • Experience with coaching is desired.

  • Must receive a satisfactory Pass: Law enforcement background check and a personal and professional reference background check.

  • Must receive a satisfactory response to P.A. 189 letter (Misconduct Law) with Fingerprinting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ย 
  • Support athletes in the development of values and morals.

  • Teach fundamentals of the sport.

  • Analyze athletes' abilities and mistakes.

  • Provide instruction to correct mistakes that hinder athletic development.

  • Work with the varsity head coach to develop the program.

  • Assist Varsity coach during games and practices.

  • Stimulate sportsmanship.

  • Develop good team spirit.

  • Develop leadership characteristics.

  • Instill self-confidence in athletes.

  • Adequately communicate with parents, players, and the Athletic Director when necessary.

  • Complies with all rules and regulations outlined in theย MHSAAย Handbook.

  • Follows the MHSAA Athletic Code for Coaches as the District's official representative of the school at interscholastic athletic activities
