Job description

Network Engineer
Department: Engineering - Video
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Austin
Reporting To: Network Engineering Manager
Description
Are you ready to be the decision-maker for the global network backbone of a world-class cloud platform?
We are searching for a mid level engineer ready to take complete ownership of our rapidly expanding data center network across multiple continents. This is an empowering role where you will be instrumental in designing, architecting, and optimizing our complex global connectivity.
You will dive deep into cutting-edge technologies, including Juniper EVPN-VXLAN, and advanced routing protocols (BGP). Critically, while you will own the network domain, you will also be deeply embedded in the wider Infrastructure team. This provides a clear, defined path for you to grow into all areas of our Infra stack-from Linux compute and storage to Kubernetes and site reliability engineering (SRE).
If you are passionate about building resilient, secure, and scalable networks, and are eager for a role where your expertise acts as the core architectural decision-maker with clear opportunities to expand your career into overall infrastructure leadership, we can't wait to connect with you.
This is a 5-day in-office position built for maximum impact. Direct, high-bandwidth collaboration is key to the level of Network Ownership and accelerated cross-functional growth we offer. Be in the room to influence architecture, partner with senior leadership, and make immediate, high-stakes decisions that drive the business forward. We believe that we are better together than apart.
Key Responsibilities
This role is for an engineer who will support network architecture while contributing across the broader infrastructure.
  • Implement, optimize, and scale the global data center backbone to ensure high availability and security.
  • Contribute to the implementation and refinement of Juniper EVPN-VXLAN fabric for scalable overlay networks in our cloud environment.
  • Configure and manage mission-critical routing protocols (BGP,IPSec,ICCP) to ensure resilient, high-performance global connectivity.
  • Configure and maintain security policies using enterprise-grade firewalls (Fortinet, or similar).
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, SRE, and Development teams to integrate networking solutions with compute, storage and cloud systems (Kubernetes/Ceph).
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python,Bash,Ansible) to streamline network provisioning and scaling.
  • Utilize and support network observability tools (Prometheus,Grafana) for infrastructure monitoring and insight.
  • Provide effective troubleshooting and resolution for network incidents of varying complexity to minimize downtime.

Requirements
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer proficient in Juniper EVPN-VXLAN, advanced routing, and enterprise firewalls.
  • Working knowledge of core routing protocols BGP/IPSec for scaling global data center networks.
  • Strong proficiency in Linux and proven ability to automate tasks using Python, Bash, or Ansible.
  • Practical experience with Prometheus and Grafana for proactive network monitoring and actionable insights.
  • Experience in configuring firewalls and implementing network security best practices.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex network and infrastructure issues.
  • Proactive approach to learning and adopting new technologies across the infrastructure stack.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to data centers for on-site deployments and maintenance.
  • Advanced troubleshooting utilities: grep, awk, sed, and tcpdump.
  • Implementing Anycast for scalable network resilience.
  • Integrating network solutions with Kubernetes and CNI.
  • Optimizing performance on Juniper QFX series switches.
