Job description

Aptar is seeking a Junior Engineer, Applications based in Cary, IL.  This position is onsite.  This role serves as a vital link between technical engineering teams, product line management and customers, developing solutions with a quick turnaround time by testing and implementation of packaging solutions.  This role will also support the sales team, product management team and product line managers, and provide support for troubleshooting packaging issues to ensure customer satisfaction.

 

As a Junior Engineer, Applications You Will:

  • Provide customer facing technical support
  • Conduct packaging testing to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Investigate potential product issues and develop solutions to resolve issues within Aptar stock products and meet customer satisfaction with dispensing solutions
  • Conduct customer and new employee training sessions and technical presentations; either in-house or at an off-site location for all Aptar Beauty product lines.  Facilitates, consults and evaluates the development, refinement, customization of stock Dispensing Solutions and Products.  Works with Engineering/Design team of Key Global Customer in the development of new products and refinement, modifications and customization.  Includes North America as well as global product lines
  • Review and approve customer drawings, product specs and Lab documents
  • Knowledge, ability, and willingness to perform all Aptar Lab testing procedures for product development and testing including but not limited to; gasket swell, corrosion testing, leak testing, spray rate, spray pattern, particle size analysis, weight loss, functional and compatibility testing, pressure-fill aerosol cans, when needed 
  • Complete Laboratory Work Request (LWR) documents, analyze and interpret data, write reports and other correspondence to customers

 

Who We Are Looking For

Strong service-oriented professional that will maintain, modify, consult and influence the correct technical product line information and specifications in alignment with our Global TDE's for the expected product performance of our customers. Able to deal effectively with both internal and external customers.

 

 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Package Engineering or related field preferred, or actively working towards a degree.

 

Required Skills 

  • 1 -3 years of experience in packaging development or lab development.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills required
  • Must possess solid math skills
  • Must have strong analysis skills to evaluate lab testing and to troubleshoot
  • Makes presentations relating to new product designs
  • Must be able to use various inspection gauges and instruments typical to a lab environment
  • Must possess strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point)
  • Must have good vision in order to perform visual inspection duties
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds independently
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to 10% of the shift

 

 

Preferred Skills

  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of dispensing systems a plus.
  • Technical knowledge of existing Aptar product lines preferred. 
  • Lab and project management experience a plus.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the starting annual salary for this position is $ 71,500 annually.
