The Junior IV&V Engineer supports independent verification and validation activities forPatriot missile system softwareat the Patriot Software Test Facility on Redstone Arsenal. Employed under theIndependent Verification & Validation (IV&V) teamwithin the S3I Directorate, this role assists in evaluating software requirements, implementation, and testing to ensure compliance with system specifications, quality standards, and program objectives.

The position provides hands-on exposure to formal qualification testing, independent analysis, and participation in major program activities supporting mission-critical defense systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • SupportIndependent Verification & Validation (IV&V)activities for Patriot software programs.
  • Review and analyzeFormal Qualification Test (FQT)data to assess software performance, correctness, and compliance with requirements.
  • Produceindependent test and assessment reportsdocumenting findings, discrepancies, risks, and recommendations.
  • Verify, test, and evaluatesoftware requirements, source code, and test casesthroughout the software lifecycle.
  • Conduct functional testing ofGraphical User Interfaces (GUI),Hardware Status Monitor, andInitializationcomponents.
  • Support requirement traceability between system requirements, software design, implementation, and test results.
  • Attend and supportmajor program reviews, technical interchange meetings, and milestone eventsrelated to Patriot software.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams while maintaining IV&V independence and objectivity.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 0-1 Years of Experience
  • Understanding of thesoftware development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Basic knowledge of software testing, verification, and validation principles.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to clearly document technical findings and communicate results.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure todefense, aerospace, or safety-critical systems.
  • Familiarity withFormal Qualification Testing (FQT)or structured test environments.
  • Experience with requirements verification, test execution, or software analysis.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and defect tracking tools.
  • Experience working in a government or DoD program environment.
