Junior Account Executive

Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis

Washington, DC • On-site

$50K/yr

Full-time

Job description

Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis is a leading global communications agency built to navigate the complexities of a hyper-connected world. We represent the icons and innovators shaping culture—from global heritage corporations and high-growth tech startups to the non-profits, creative legends, and visionary founders who define the global discourse.

Our expertise spans the full cultural spectrum. We operate at the intersection of entertainment, social impact, corporate reputation, and consumer lifestyle, executing seamlessly across traditional media, social-first outlets, brand partnerships, and influencer ecosystems. Whether we are navigating complex crisis management, elevating advocacy campaigns, or launching global consumer brands, we are storytellers at our core.

You may notice our digital presence is purposefully understated. While our clients are global household names, we believe the best work happens when the spotlight stays firmly on those we represent. We fly under the radar by design - preferring to let our campaigns, and our results, speak for themselves.

If you're driven, intentional, and ready to do good, we're ready for you!

Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis has an immediate opening for a high-energy, multidisciplinary Junior Account Executive in our Washington, D.C. office. You have had a solid start in the industry—about 1–2 years, including high-level internships—and you are ready to apply your skills to the media capital of the world. We are major proponents of the generalist mentality; we want a JAE who is just as curious about a disruptive tech startup as they are about a social good campaign or a major consumer brand.

We are looking for a modern storyteller who is a pop culture junkie with a purpose. You understand that in 2026, a brand’s narrative breaks through only when it is fueled by the right voices and placed on the right platforms. You have the curiosity to identify emerging trends, the writing skills to help draft a persuasive pitch, and the organizational rigor to ensure our fast-paced D.C. accounts run with total precision.
The Role:
  • Active Storytelling Support: Assist in the research and development of 360-degree communications campaigns. You will move from building media lists to drafting active pitches, helping to secure wins across national news, lifestyle outlets, and digital-first platforms.
  • Modern Media & Cultural Radar: Act as the team’s eyes and ears on the social zeitgeist. You are responsible for daily monitoring of news cycles and social platforms to flag "vibe shifts," emerging influencers, and trending topics that our clients need to know about.
  • Research & List Architecture: Own the foundational research that fuels our strategies. You will build and maintain meticulously researched media and creator lists that reflect the actual modern landscape—identifying the right voices for everything from a niche tech launch to a massive consumer event.
  • Content Creation: Draft the first versions of creative pitches, press releases, and briefing notes. You are learning to translate complex brand missions into clear, platform-agnostic narratives that capture an editor’s attention.
  • The Engine of the Account: Manage the daily essentials of your accounts—agendas, meeting recaps, activity reports, and media tracking—with total precision. You ensure the Account Executive and Manager have the data they need to lead with confidence.
  • On-the-Ground Logistics: Provide essential support for press conferences, influencer activations, and media events. You handle the logistics—check-ins, RSVP management, and on-site media wrangling—with a professional and solution-oriented attitude.
  • Relationship Driven: You recognize that our business is built on trust and authenticity. You lead by example in how you treat your co-workers, clients, and the media—prioritizing integrity and professional poise from day one.
Who You Are:
  • The Ambitious Generalist: You have 1–2 years of experience in PR or communications. You are eager to take on more ownership and wants to be at the center of the NYC media landscape.
  • Digitally Fluent: You live on social media and understand the creator economy. You know which platforms are driving conversation right now and can translate that knowledge into a smart pitch or brainstorm idea.
  • High EQ: You possess high EQ and situational awareness. You know how to communicate effectively with senior staff, handle a fast-paced environment, and maintain a calm demeanor under pressure.
  • A Strong, Fast Writer: You are a concise and creative writer. You understand the difference between a traditional press release and a punchy email pitch that actually gets an editor’s attention.
  • Meticulously Organized: You have an eagle eye for detail. To you, an accurate media tracker or a perfectly formatted briefing note is a vital part of telling a client’s story successfully.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: You are proactive. You don’t wait for a task to be assigned; you look for ways to be helpful and bring fresh, out-of-the-box ideas to every team brainstorm.
This is a non exempt role and eligible for over time pay.

We go well beyond the benefits that you’re looking for like medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with matching, annual merit-based bonuses, PTO, fertility, FSA for medical, childcare, and commuter expenses. Eligible employees at Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis may access these benefits, along with many additional perks including, a flexible work schedule, Work from Anywhere program, Summer Fridays, Wellness Days, and a 4-week sabbatical or trip to celebrate select anniversaries. We love to socialize so, we have collaborative workspaces, some offices even have rooftops, celebrations, networking opportunities, and community volunteering. We frequently mark opportunities to listen, learn and act throughout the year (Juneteenth, Election Day, International Women’s Day, etc.).
