Senior Data Analyst – Job Description

Job Title: Senior Data Analyst
Experience: 12+ Years
Job Type: W2 Contract
Location: Open / Hybrid 

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Analyst with 12+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting, business intelligence, and data visualization. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with SQL, Python, Excel, Power BI/Tableau, data modeling, ETL, and business requirements analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and business insights.

  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.

  • Create interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools.

  • Gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into data-driven solutions.

  • Perform data cleansing, validation, reconciliation, and quality checks.

  • Develop KPIs, metrics, reports, and analytical models to support business decisions.

  • Work with data engineering teams to understand and validate ETL/ELT pipelines and data sources.

  • Perform root-cause analysis and investigate data discrepancies and quality issues.

  • Build automated reporting and analytical solutions using Python, SQL, and BI tools.

  • Perform data profiling, trend analysis, forecasting, and ad-hoc analysis as required.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product teams, developers, data engineers, and leadership.

  • Document data sources, business rules, reporting requirements, and analytical processes.

  • Present findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Support Agile/Scrum teams and participate in requirement gathering, sprint planning, and review meetings.

  • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to data analytics best practices.

Required Skills
  • 12+ years of experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related field.

  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases.

  • Advanced experience with Power BI and/or Tableau.

  • Strong experience with Excel, including PivotTables, formulas, and data analysis.

  • Experience with Python for data analysis and automation.

  • Strong knowledge of data visualization, reporting, and dashboard development.

  • Experience with data modeling, data profiling, and data quality.

  • Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data warehouse concepts.

  • Experience working with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or similar.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Knowledge of Databricks, Spark, or Snowflake.

  • Experience with statistical analysis and forecasting.

  • Knowledge of Python libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.

  • Experience with data governance, data lineage, and metadata management.
