Job description


The Senior macOS Systems Engineer is responsible for engineering, maintaining, automating, and securing the organization's macOS endpoint ecosystem and supporting infrastructure. This role serves as the senior technical resource for macOS device management, endpoint security, automation, and enterprise client engineering initiatives.
The role operates within the Endpoint Engineering team and is focused on delivering scalable, secure, and modern endpoint management solutions for macOS devices across the global enterprise environment. Responsibilities include endpoint lifecycle management, operating system deployment, application packaging, patch management, security compliance, automation, and platform optimization.
This position requires strong engineering capabilities, deep macOS platform expertise, and the ability to lead complex technical initiatives while supporting operational stability and modernization efforts across endpoint services.
Responsibilities
Endpoint Engineering & Platform Management
  • Serve as the senior macOS subject matter expert for endpoint engineering operations and escalations.
  • Engineer, maintain, and optimize enterprise macOS management platforms including Jamf Pro and/or Iru.
  • Design and maintain scalable endpoint provisioning and lifecycle management workflows within cloud identity environments.
  • Manage and support macOS operating system deployment, configuration management, software deployment, and patch management processes.
  • Maintain standardized endpoint configurations and enforce enterprise device compliance standards.

Automation & Scripting
  • Develop and maintain automation workflows, scripts, and tooling to improve endpoint operational efficiency and reduce manual administrative overhead.
  • Create and maintain application packaging, deployment automation, and self-service solutions for enterprise software delivery.
  • Write and maintain advanced Bash and Python scripts to support provisioning, compliance, reporting, monitoring, and remediation tasks.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement across endpoint operations.

Security & Compliance
  • Partner with Information Security teams to implement and maintain macOS security baselines and endpoint hardening standards.
  • Engineer and maintain automated patching and vulnerability remediation processes.
  • Support endpoint compliance initiatives and assist in responding to security incidents and critical vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure endpoint management platforms align with enterprise security, auditing, and governance requirements.

Infrastructure & Operations
  • Monitor endpoint management platform performance, availability, and operational health.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex endpoint engineering and infrastructure issues.
  • Maintain and optimize management platform architecture in alignment with business growth and operational requirements.
  • Participate in platform upgrades, testing, validation, and rollout activities.

Collaboration & Support
  • Provide Tier 3 escalation support for Service Desk and technical support teams.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, identity, networking, and security teams to implement integrated endpoint solutions.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to evaluate and deliver endpoint solutions supporting operational and business initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute technical leadership within the Endpoint Engineering team.

Documentation & Standards
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, engineering standards, and platform architecture documentation.
  • Contribute to endpoint engineering best practices, governance standards, and operational maturity initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for configurations, workflows, integrations, and support processes.

Qualifications
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience supporting and engineering enterprise macOS environments.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering Jamf Pro, Iru (Kandji) platforms.
  • Experience managing large-scale enterprise endpoint environments supporting 1000+ users.
  • Experience supporting modern endpoint management and cloud identity platforms.

Technical Expertise
  • Advanced knowledge of macOS administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong experience with Jamf Pro, Iru(Kandji) architecture, administration, and maintenance.
  • Experience with macOS application packaging and deployment methodologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of endpoint patch management concepts and methodologies.
  • Strong scripting experience using Bash and Python.
  • Working knowledge of Apple Business Manager, automated device enrolment, and MDM technologies.
  • Experience integrating endpoint platforms with identity providers such as Azure AD / Entra ID or Okta.
  • Solid networking fundamentals and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with ServiceNow and JIRA ticketing and workflow systems.
  • Knowledge of endpoint security best practices and modern cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience with endpoint compliance, monitoring, and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications
  • JAMF Pro 200 certification or higher.
  • Apple platform certifications preferred.
  • Experience with cloud-first endpoint management strategies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Intune and cross-platform endpoint management concepts.
  • Experience with automation frameworks and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
