Job description

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Investment Accounting Systems Administrator to manage and maintain our core investment accounting platform. The successful candidate will be a critical link between the Accounting/Operations teams and the IT department, ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficiency of the system. This role requires a strong background in investment operations and system administration with a financial services environment.
We currently operate in a hybrid working model, whereby you will be required to work in-office 4 days per week.
Location(s): Charlotte, NC, or Milwaukee, WI
Responsibilities
  • System management: Oversee the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and operation of the investment accounting system (e.g., Advent APX or similar software)
  • Data integrity: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of investment data, including positions, transactions, and security master data
  • Support & Troubleshooting: Serve as the primary point of contact for end-users, troubleshooting system issues, resolving data discrepancies
  • Upgrades & Testing: Plan, test and implement system upgrades, patches and enhancements, coordinating with vendors and internal teams.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize system usage, automate manual processes, and improve overall operational workflow.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: Proven experience (12 years) in an Investment Accounting System Administrator Investment Operations or similar middle/back-office role.
  • System Expertise: Direct, hands-on experience as an administrator with a major investment accounting platform, such as Advent APX, Geneva, Portia or a similar enterprise-level system.
  • Investment Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of various asset classes, including fixed income, equities, derivatives, and alternative investments.
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical aptitude, including experience with data querying languages (e.g.; SQL) and a solid understanding of data management principles.
  • General Ledger: Experience with General Ledger (GL) maintenance and the reconciliation process for investment transactions and positions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communications skills, along with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Remain in stationary position for prolonged periods of time
  • Operate computer programs and software
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences in person and in electronic formats
  • Day-to-day contact with others (co-workers and/or public)
  • Ability to work in a collaborative business environment in close quarters with peers and varying interruptions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
  • Experience with a data management platform (e.g., Markit EDM, GoldenSource).
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., 40Act)

Compensation
Base Pay Range: $120,000 - $150,000
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary bonus programs, or other annual or non-annual incentive or sales plans.)
