Looking for aSystems Administrator (Mid-Level) position that is engaging in high profile and challenging projects supporting the U.S. Navy? Serco has a great opportunity with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division supporting the Undersea Warfare Electromagnetic Systems Department, Technical Direction Agent and In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) for electromagnetic programs for U.S. Navy platforms, located in the beautiful surroundings of Middletown, Rhode Island.
Serco supports the US. Navy MILSATCOM Systems and the NUWC Division which provides technical oversight for the implementation, integration, testing, operational support, training, integrated logistics engineering, and sustainment within the U.S Navy platforms for submarines, surface ships, aircraft, and facilities ashore. The mission and activities include overall research, development, and design oversight of Navy protected and wideband MILSATCOM systems and associated baseband equipment.
This position is contingentupon your ability to maintain/transfer your DoD Secret security clearance
In this role, you will:
  • Be responsible for setting up and maintaining a system or specific components of a system (e.g. installing, configuring, and updating hardware and software; establishing and managing user accounts; overseeing or conducting backup and recovery tasks; implementing operational and technical security controls; and adhering to organizational security policies and procedures).
  • Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability.
  • Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies.
  • Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.
  • Plan, execute and verify data redundancy and system recovery procedures.
  • Install, update, and troubleshoot systems/servers.
  • Evaluate and install patches and resolve software related problems.
  • Perform system backups and recovery.
  • Comply with organization systems administration standard operating procedure.
  • Implement and enforce local network usage policies and procedures.
  • Manage system/server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
  • Monitor and maintain system/server configuration.
  • Perform repairs on faulty system/server hardware.
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
  • Maintain data files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity.
  • Provide critical preventive and corrective maintenance, information assurance, asset management, technical systems updates, service call resolution, and configuration management for C4I systems worldwide.
  • Design group policies and access control lists to ensure compatibility with organization standards, business rules, and needs.
  • Provide ongoing optimization and problem-solving support.
  • Check system hardware availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency.
  • Conduct periodic system maintenance including cleaning (both physically and electronically), disk checks, routing reboots, data dumps, and testing.
  • Oversee installation, implementation, configuration, and support of system components.
  • Diagnose faulty system/server hardware.
  • Provide Operation and Maintenance support including patch management/testing, STIG implementation and mitigation, information assurance/security, anti-virus, and data backup solutions.
  • Provide system administration and engineering support for Windows Server 2008/2012/2016.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • An active DoD Secret security clearance
  • A current IAT Level II baseline certification; (Security +, CompTIA A+, or Network +)
  • Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of relevant experience
    • Or a High School Diploma/GED with 6 years of relevant experience
  • Some working experience in the administration of Window's Active Directory infrastructure to include Group Policy Object management experience, VMware ESXi server, data base solutions to include Microsoft SQL
  • A strong understanding of current Microsoft supported Windows operating systems
  • The ability to multi-task and teach or assist others to resolve Systems related issues
  • The ability to create Standard Operating Procedure documentation for designs and implementation strategies of new hardware and software deployments
  • The ability to produce system specifications, design requirements, test evaluation planning documents, and technical publications and reports
  • The ability to support project at client sites where working conditions may vary
  • The willingness to take ownership of problems and see thru to resolution
  • Experience with Windows 10, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6/7, Cisco IOS
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Additional desired experience and skills:
  • Familiarity with DoD networking and security accreditation requirements is desired
  • Experience with HBSS, eMASS, ACAS, SCAP, VRAM, DIACAP/RMF
