Job description

Tectonic is currently seeking a full-time AutoCAD Designer with experience in civil, structural, or solar engineering design to join our multi-disciplined team in Newburgh, NY.
This senior-level position is ideal for a seasoned design professional with extensive experience in Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM), along with strong AutoCAD expertise. The successful candidate will serve in a dual capacity, functioning as an everyday CAD drafter for a wide range of projects while also leading and executing Revit/BIM modeling efforts when projects require advanced modeling coordination.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Creating, modifying, managing, and releasing detailed layouts, technical drawings, and construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit 2024;
  • Leading BIM modeling efforts for projects requiring 3D coordination, clash detection, and model-based deliverables;
  • Developing and managing Revit models across disciplines including structural, civil/site, solar, and battery storage systems;
  • Coordinating BIM standards, templates, families, and workflows in alignment with company standards and project requirements;
  • Collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and technical staff to develop accurate and constructible design documents;
  • Translating sketches, markups, scanned images, point clouds, and client drawings into coordinated 2D and 3D deliverables;
  • Serving as the in-house Revit/BIM subject matter expert when projects require advanced modeling or BIM coordination;
  • Conducting occasional site visits to obtain field measurements, photographs, and verify existing conditions;
  • Printing, organizing, and issuing drawing sets and models for internal review, client submission, and construction use;
  • Assisting in mentoring junior CADD staff in both AutoCAD and Revit workflows and all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of related engineering design work experience in civil, structural, and/or solar engineering design;
  • Extensive, hands-on experience with Revit 2024 and BIM modeling;
  • Strong Proficiency with AutoCAD 2024 or newer and detailing;
  • Associate's Degree or CAD certificate in a related field is a plus;
  • Functional proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to utilize other software programs as needed;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently while also supporting a collaborative, team-oriented environment;
  • Requires a valid, acceptable driver's license to perform site visits.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to assume a stationary position, handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and/or equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. The employee will also need to process manual and computer generated documents, and will be required to communicate using the Corporate e-mail and telephone systems. In accordance with the level of visual detail required for this position, close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required for this position. They may be occasionally required to move around on a job-site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder, and positioning themselves appropriately to obtain necessary specifications. The employee may be occasionally required to lift and/or move equipment and materials up to 10 lbs. This position may involve occasionally operating a motor-vehicle, which may require assuming a stationary position for extended periods of time.
