Job description

Position Title: Junior Research Analyst

Status: Full-time

Location: Rosslyn, VA (Arlington)

Schedule: Hybrid - in-office Tuesday through Thursday, remote Mondays and Fridays

Company Description American Made Media Company (AMMC) helps campaigns and organizations turn strategic visions into successful outcomes. The company operates through specialized sub-brands—Launchpad Strategies, American Made Media Consultants, NPA Strategies, NPA Polling, and 17th Street Media—to deliver integrated services. These services include strategic consulting, media planning and buying, data-driven polling, and creative advertising.

About the Role

We are currently looking for a Junior Research Analyst to join NPA Polling, a public opinion research firm conducting survey research, focus groups and data analytics for political and corporate clients nationwide. This is an entry-level position ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional with a strong interest in Republican politics and a desire to build a career in survey and public opinion research. The Junior Research Analyst will support senior team members across all phases of the survey research process and will receive hands-on training in questionnaire design, survey programming, data quality control, analysis and reporting. The individual will report to a Research Manager on the Polling & Data Analytics team.

Candidates should be comfortable working in a conservative political environment and eager to grow in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Supporting project execution: tracking timelines, deliverables and internal deadlines to help keep projects on schedule
  • Assisting in the development of survey questionnaires, including conducting background research on candidates, campaigns, and issue environments, and learning to draft clear, strategically useful, and methodologically appropriate survey questions under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Testing survey programming across devices and flagging errors, skip-logic issues and quota problems prior to launch
  • Supporting quality control checks on data, including monitoring quotas and reviewing open-ended responses during fielding
  • Proofing and inputting data into toplines, memos, charts, graphs and deck deliverables with a high degree of accuracy
  • Building charts, graphs and tables that accurately and clearly present survey results
  • Taking notes during focus groups, client calls and internal meetings and preparing summaries as requested
  • Assisting with specialized research projects as requested

Basic Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Market Research, Marketing, Statistics, Economics, Public Policy or a related field
  • 1-2 years of professional experience; relevant internships, campaign work or academic research experience welcomed
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in data handling and proofing
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Eagerness to learn statistical programming and survey research methods on the job

A couple of things that will put your application ahead of others:

•      Coursework or exposure to statistical programming (SPSS, R or similar)

•      Coursework or experience in survey research, market research, statistics, research methods or data analysis

•      Experience on a political campaign, in a public policy organization or in a research internship

•      Familiarity with survey platforms or online research tools
