Junior Network Engineer
6 Month Contract to Hire
Work Location: Franconia/Springfield, VA
Hybrid; 3 days onsite/2 days remote
Hourly Rate during contract: $42/hr. W2, benefits available
Annual Salary: $86,000 annually plus benefits
Clearance: Minimum Interim Secret Clearance. Will upgrade to Top Secret RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide network performance statistics and reports.
Install and configure all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, and encryptors.
Inspect, maintain, and, where necessary, replace network cabling and other network-related equipment. Administer hardware and software upgrades for network equipment.
Perform network design and capacity planning.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
Perform network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
Administer and maintain user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
Interact with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
Ensure the stable operation and efficient performance of data networks, monitoring and managing all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, and encryptors, analyzing network performance across the organization’s LANs and WANs, and identifying and developing remedies for network performance bottlenecks. QUALIFICATIONS:
A degree in the field of computer science or a related discipline is preferred.
4+ years of directly related experience, to include 2 yrs of engineering experience.
Experience installing, configuring, and supporting network environments, and configuring network hardware and software; installing, configuring, and supporting cables, routers, switches, encryptors, etc.
Experience with Juniper network solutions is highly desirable.
Network design and capacity planning experience is highly desirable.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network resource administration.
Ensure the stable operation and efficient performance of data networks.
Appropriate Juniper or Cisco network certifications are a plus.
Experience with network security measures, experience with network management and analysis tools such as SolarWinds.
Experience in maintaining and performing upgrades to the network environment.
Experience with configuring and troubleshooting Juniper routers and switches. Experience with developing, implementing, and maintaining network policies and procedures.
Experience working with LANs and WANs.
Experience working with firewalls.
Experience in developing, reviewing, and editing technical documentation.
Strong written and verbal skills.
Able to work independently.
Provide after-hours on-call support on a rotational basis.
