SQL Database Administrator (SQL DBA)

Job Title: SQL Database Administrator (SQL DBA)
Job Type: Long Term Contract
Location:Des Moines, Iowa
Duration:12+ Months

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (SQL DBA) to manage, maintain, optimize, and secure enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments. 
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with SQL Server administration, database performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, backup/recovery, security, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

The SQL DBA will work closely with application development, infrastructure, DevOps, cloud, and business teams to ensure database environments are highly available, secure, scalable, and performant.

Required Skills and Experience

7+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator or similar DBA role.
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration.
Experience with SQL Server 2016/2017/2019/2022 or equivalent versions.
Strong knowledge of T-SQL
Advanced understanding of SQL Server architecture and database internals.
Strong experience with SQL Server performance tuning and optimization.
Experience troubleshooting blocking, deadlocks, wait statistics, locking, CPU, memory, and I/O issues.
Strong experience with indexing, execution plans, statistics, stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers.
Hands-on experience with SQL Server backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery.
Experience implementing and supporting Always On Availability Groups.
Experience with SQL Server Agent jobs and automation.
Strong knowledge of database security, authentication, authorization, roles, and permissions.
Experience with PowerShell or scripting for DBA automation.
Experience with database monitoring and performance management tools.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
